2022/23 Sean Dyche

Interesting piece from Sky today, they rate Dyche as possibly being the most effective manager in PL relative to resources available.

I'm happy with Dyche if we stay up
The increase in chance creation for one is very positive
I thought last year Lampard deserved a window and a run at a fresh season and though I was wrong I don't see us in as much trouble under Dyche
I'm desperate for a rebuild at this stage too
My only concern is his reluctance to use younger players which is essential to sorting our finances out

I'm sure there is someone in the entire world of football who is both better than Dyche and willing to manage a PL team with limitations. If we go down it is harder but still not impossible.

The question is do we have the scouting to actually find anyone? Probably not tbh.
Give the club some credit. They looked further than Caldy this time. It's a fair trek from Liverpool to Northamptonshire where Dyche was happily scratching his arse at home.

For me, thats a huge question.
As far as I can see, Dyche sticks with the same 11 unless theres injury or a catastrophic loss of form.
And then it's a chance for the other regular squad players.
So there's little to no opportunity for the likes of Stan Mills.
I think it was like this at Burnley too.

I like what he's done with McNeil and the tactical masterclasses vs Arsenal and Brighton but his inclusion of Keane and some very very poor tactical decisions in other games put a big dampener on his performance so far at the club. Keep us up and he gets credit in the bank but still unsure about him.

The season before last.

I don't think this is required. In fact the attack has been quite good when we've stopped the grinding and the key is balancing that with a bit more security at the back. I'd say my biggest concern with Dyche right now more than anything is about the balance. We haven't had many complete matches. I'm not expecting it every week of course but maybe more often is obtainable.

How much of this lack of balance is out of tactics and how much is out of an inherently imbalanced squad?

This might be why he's showing up as the most efficient manager. He does the opposite of what Pep does. He figures his job is done in the transfer market, and that all he can do the rest of the year is screw it up, so he gets out of the way.

Which is probably true in the bottom half, playing just the league and DOA in the cups, using a thin squad built on a shoestring budget. He probably shouldn't be the manager once we have a youth overhaul, but he makes sense now.

Managers, like everyone else is judged on results. If he keeps us up then great he's done a great job. If we drop, it's on him.

As much as I criticise this fella, i cannot really think of anyone else more suitable to lead us in this final game. This type of situation is what he was brought to the club for. Steer us clear Mr Dyche and then we will see what happens after a wide scale restructuring of the people running the club.

He did bring McNeil through.
