Re Bournemouth, I would say our defence is better than theirs, the midfields are quite level, their attack is better than ours. Billing, Lerma, Solanke, Brooks (when fully fit), Tavernier, Dango would all be well in contention for first team places if they were with us.

Forest I'm less sure about, but MGW, Johnson, Danilo and Awoniyi would all be well in contention for first team places

Solanke doesn't play over DCL, he's been better this season with confidence from the Championship, but he was awful in PL last time. Brooks hasn't done anything for several years now (debilitating illness/injury unfortunately). They've overperformed really under O'Neil. They looked miles off a PL team under Parker.

Gibbs White is a very good player. Johnson is a good quality player (but on the bench lately) and Awoniyi has scored the goals to keep them up. That aside there isn't much there at all.

Let's not pretend he's some kind of miracle worker. We would be safe already if he had binned Keane earlier, locked Maupay in his basement and had not played centre backs instead of full backs. As little as that would be enough.

Got lucky Leeds and Leicester fell off a cliff. If either had just won one of their last several games we'd be on the brink of relegation.

However, he's better than Dean Smith and Javi Gracia (not saying much) and that looks like being enough to keep us up.

If you extrapolate Dyche's 1.05 PPG with us over a whole season we'd be going into this weekend around level with Bournemouth and safe.
I’d quite happily take a season of guaranteed survival and 15th after the last two seasons.
1.05ppg might (or might not) be over simplifying it though. Cba tonight but would be interesting to see points gained at home and away and extrapolating that for a full season. Equally teams played across those games and if they were h/a probably affects the average.
Either way 17 is too small a scale to judge what he might get over a season I would guess the upper range will be a bit higher tbh.

To be honest given our striking options when DCL isn't fit (which is most of the time) most mangers would struggle to get a tune out of our lot. Is dyche the greatest? Obviously not but we do need a spell where we can get ourselves out of the financial hole we're in and I think he would do that. I get a feeling that a lot on here want him sacked because we've got a squad that should be top 5. It's a very poor squad and will be for another couple of seasons in my opinion so we need someone to keep us in the league until we can build again. We've jumped ship to a new manager too many times and look where we are now, stick with him it's not going to be pretty but I reckon he's a safe pair of hands for a couple of seasons.

At what long term cost though? At some point we need to accept that “backed properly in the market” should also be the same as “long term vision” for the club.

The long term vision for the club with dyche in charge is more likely than not perpetual relegation battles.

We wasted the chance last summer to go for a long term identity. We shouldn’t waste it again this summer.

Doesn't matter who is in charge, we have to invest heavily in players this summer in case we end up with a transfer ban at some point next season.

we aren’t safe yet

and if he takes us down he’s as bad as those

But if we are buying Sean dyche style players then what happens when we want to try and transition away from that to move up the league?

We saw with the players that Allardyce bought that they become dead weight when the manager goes.
