I think he’ll do no bad, hate it when fans automatically blame everybody else for a signing or a manager, remember the moaning and groaning from us when big Ange was announced, just remember that.

Its not.

Spurs managed it, Newcastle are about to manage it.

Its not impossible.

Spurs have spent loads of money for ages, have had failure after failure before Pochettino came along, and found themselves with a good manager, a 100 million pound striker for free, and in the CL, just as FFP came in and their new stadium was ready. Quite good timing but even if they hadn’t have been, they had higher corporate sponsorships than Everton even when we were finishing ahead of them under Moyes.

Newcastle will have to make the top 4 this season or look to massively increase their corporate sponsorships from the Saudis. Otherwise they’ll have the same revenue problem everyone else has meanwhile whichever two of the top 6 miss out on top 4 this year will regroup and have more room to spend than Newcastle will thanks to their massive corporate revenues.

It’s not impossible to break in but it’s extremely difficult

They’re different things though.

we’re down at the bottom because we’ve recruited poorly and wasted money - absolutely

But if we’d spent it wisely it’s highly unlikely we’d be challenging at the top.

People can say that Leicester or Brighton have recruited better than us sure, but trying to make out that we could have been up where Arsenal or City are if we’d spent money better in 17/18 is ridiculous.
But Newcastle are in the top 4 now and have spent less money? The reason is that the club is managed well at the Board level and on the pitch. If a club can do that they will challenge at the top with a level of investment which is quite commonplace for many teams in the PL

The difference between 8th and 15th is worth about 20million, a Europa League run is worth about 30million, CL for 1 season is worth about 80million.

We had a chance and we blew it.

Have Spurs spent a lot of money though?

The Spurs fanbase have it in for Levy and co as they think they are holding the club back.

It is not meant to be easy. It the very top of the best football league in the world and the rewards for getting there are huge. Of course it is going to be extremely difficult to get into the top 4/6
