"a few of them had let down the last manager and staff..." S.Dyche MotD February 4th 2023

Interesting comment that. Hopefully they don’t revert to type and throw Dyche under the bus that constantly circles Goodison

He said "[the players honesty] has been invaluable to us as a staff to get the start point, the base to work from, I must mention that a few of them felt they'd let down the last manager and staff, so I admired that honesty."

It’s only one game but it’s embarrassing how tactically out of depth Lampard looks compared to Dyche. We never looked in danger of losing that game and everyone knew their jobs. Not only that but within game we were tactically flexible too, something Lampard was notoriously bad at.
Think the worry of Lampard was, at derby and Chelsea he had one of the best teams in both those leagues. So just by having better quality than most teams, it covered his flaws and inexperience. We wanted him because it was him or victor. Lesser of 2 evils.

Indeed, although his voice does remind me of the Harry Enfield character, Frank Doberman - “Oi, Calvert-Lewin, NO! You may well be an aspiring catwalk model and the doyenne of the fashionista, but when I say make yourself available for a long diagonal from Tarks, I want you to make yourself available for a long diagonal from Tarks, you aesthetically pleasing but constantly injured beautiful man!”
That is so good I suspect you may actually be Harry Enfield!

Match of the Day thinking Dyches last 5 games stats have any relevance to yesterdays game….. :coffee:

Yeah. Would be great. Problem is though, it's them. If we were the best team in the world and they were the worst, they'd still beat us. They get all the decisions, all the luck. Sorry for the negativity but I've been seeing it for well over 50 years apart from the odd time. Let's hope it's one of those times.
Hmm not sure. There are a few managers who just seem to have Liverpool's number: Ancelotti was one, he took us to the pit and we won. Allardyce seemed to know how to deal with them as well, granted we never beat them with him but a couple of draws?

I think Dyche has them sussed.

His most important quality is that he could beat up any of the other managers in the league. They know it and he knows it.

It was my biggest concern about that Corberan fella. It's all very well being tactically astute and progressive; he might even know Brazilian Ju-Jitsu, but he's never taking Dyche down, and that's what matters.

I would of loved to have had that performance against Saints, Wolves and West Ham...
That’s the pity, we’ve made it so much harder for ourselves - these were all six pointers and we have enabled them more by losing all three of them. Why FL wasn’t sacked after Bournemouth will remain one of life’s great mysteries (other than incompetence). I’m hoping we see the relative equivalent of the the differ in result between FL and TT when he was sacked at Chelsea. Back then FL had them in 9th in the table and they ended up winning CL and in CL spots in league

….there was a moment in open play during the first half when Iwobi had the ball on the right and sent in a cross. It came to nothing but I noticed we had 5 players in the box, including two CMs which I thought was very encouraging.
It was a proper managerial performance yesterday from the way we were set up and organised, the switching of wingers even the way I believe we earned the goal with the corners a little like the way a bowler takes a wicket by mixing it up.

Impressed personally
