Wonder if this curry night precedes ‘Gaffers Day’ training sessions? Hope they comprise locking the worst trainers in the sauna with him while he clears his guts of the previous nights Ghost chilli Phal Balti.
“Take that you lazy ********”

Did bring back a memory of that for me though, what a mad thing to try as him effectively as dof ?

As you say it will be a talk to them, probably about professional standards and work ethic etc. which can only help
Tbh Clive Woodward was a successful rugby player and international manager. In between both posts he was a millionaire businessman who had nailed down on winning edges - small things that are difference from winning and losing.
Eg He introduced the skin tight rugby tops having seen a shirt pulling incident prevent a try in a game.
Depending on his remit at Southampton it was neccassaly a bad appointment.
If he was looking at the systems, processes and culture at the club he would probably be a good appointment. If he had control of tactics and scouting obviously that’s different.
I think because he was so famous and because harry redknapp was so old school it was probably not the right job at the right time.
There is a lot of cross sport recruitment in the background of clubs now.

Wasn't sure where else to plonk this:

Like this a lot. Top man.

The tightly knit squad of manager and coaches was what Lampard tried to build. But very very different when those involved have known each other and worked together since being kids.

They all talk a good game and seem to be deliberately papering over the utter bilge that normally oozes out of the club. Means nothing and they can all get lost if we don’t win games, but I’ve liked everything said by Dyche and his team so far.

I've watched a lot of interviews with this guy over the past couple of weeks, trying to get a handle on him.

He's an incredibly jokey, affable sort of guy but - and I find this incredibly weird - he never laughs!
He laughs inwardly so his face doesn’t show it but inside he’s lhfao.

….I have my doubts any team would be interested in Iwobi for £20m. The other issue would be clubs unwilling to match his £100k per week salary. I’ve posted previously that I don’t trust him to maintain the form he’s shown this season.

My other point is I can only see him getting game time under Dyche in wide positions & I’m sure we can find somebody with more threat than he possesses. I definitely wouldn’t reward him with a new deal, I’d try & cash him in or let his contract run down if he’s not prepared to move.
I think Dyche will see right through Iwobi after two or three games and his non tackling after thirty and forty yard runs towards his opponents but stopping two feet before he gets there and not putting a tackle in.

Yes, seems like another good addition and hes a Blue!!

….I actually think Iwobi has lots to offer, some are more about quality than tackles. What I doubt about Iwobi is his application & consistency. I just don’t trust him to be effective week-in week-out. I wouldn’t be tying him up on a big bucks contract.

….thanks for posting.

i liked Woan as a player, bit of class about him with that silky left foot. Comes across as intelligent but what I most get from Dyche and his two coaches is an uncomplicated approach.

Sometimes it can all get a bit complex, I just think the game is about what you do with the ball and what you do when the opposition has the ball. Clearly a tight knit & small coaching unit who know each other very well. It’s all about whether they can keep us up.

I'm not sure if you are trying to convince yourself, but Woodward was not seen as a good appointment at all.
He only came in because he was friends with there chairman.
I think even he realised he was stuck in a world that he didn't know.

Anyway I was only remarking about how bringing Eddie Jones in to give a speech to the players reminded me of the situation, which it did.
Whether one was a DOF of a club or one is just trying to galvanise the squad with a speech.

Anything that can help is good but some players might find it a bit degrading coming from a Rugby coach.

Can you imagine a football manager going in to give a speech to a rugby team..
