There's a level of flexibility in what Brentford does that Dyche has never shown.
Brentford focuses extremely on set-pieces, long balls, crosses and counter-attacks. They are the team with the shortest attack measured in time in the PL. They are almost at the bottom, far below average when it comes to the number of passes, and for every 5-6 passes there is a long ball, which is the most in the PL.

On many of the same statistical measures, Brentford and Burnley do not differ significantly from each other, of course there are nuances, but Brentford is an extremely direct team, and actually disproves everything you write. Then it is strange that you highlight Brentford, while consistently butchering the performances of Dyche and Burnley.

Not under flavour of the month Thomas Frank, surely?

If the performances stink he should still get sacked
If he picks up enough points to keep us up, you will be in a very small minority if you castigate him for the level of the performances. In all honesty, if he keeps us up, he deserves to be allowed to bring some players in and to be given a chance to see what he can build. Burnley were always strugglers and they accept that fact. I think Everton, no matter how badly run they are, will aspire to back him if he keeps us up.

For me, and I think Dyche will be aware of this, staying up will get him at least a couple of transfer windows. Relegation, regardless of how good the performances are, will get him the sack.

I think if we go down I’d go back to Bielsa and ask him to bring through the promising youngsters we’ve got and build something sustainable. Would at least give some grounds for optimism if we end up in the Championship. Branthwaite, Mills, Welch and Simms would all benefit playing regularly at that level.

On the other hand, if we do get relegated, Dyche will be one of the best qualified managers to get us up again.

Disagree….I think if we go down he should still get the next season to bring us up - he has a two and a half year contract and this would give him all, if not the majority of eighteen months at the helm. We just need to be realistic and practical for now even if relegated. The damage has already been done in not sacking Lampard earlier, we now just need to mitigate the impact of that poor procrastinated decision making. In addition the clubs has made a litany of mistakes let numerous managers down - changing another one at the end of this year, just because he could not affect the recovery we hoped for is wrong.

I don't think he'd be given the chance mate, first relegation in 70 years? Regardless of the fairness, or otherwise, of the situation, he would not be rewarded for taking us down, by allowing him to remain in his job. If this was any club other than Everton, you would imagine there would have been a clause in his contract regarding a reduced compensation sum, should he relegate us.

The fact that he is on a supposed £3.5m bonus if we stay up indicates they’ll stick with him if we go down. His punishment for going down is losing the cash not his job (plus the punishment of having to carry on managing a striker-less madhouse).

Except the really important measures like chances created and goals scored. They might be coming from the same place but Brentford are good at it which is ultimately my problem with Dyche above all else. He's just not very good.

I look forward to watching a Sean Dyche Everton side play Rotherham away, on a cold wet Wednesday evening, hoofing the ball to Jerry Yates as we sit 10th in the table

The stuff dreams are made of
