This line of thinking is literally why we are where we are.
I think short team performances are important but results are more so only because there is demand for points occasionally to get us out of trouble but i do agree that to climb the league table and get in the higher places e.g. top eight then performances do become important at least in terms of consistency and style.

There are only so many points obtainable against the run of play, eventually your key performance metrics need to be higher and more consistent than the opposition. Dyche will be decent for us in my opinion for the next eighteen or 24 months with reasonable improvement……it’s what he does after that in terms of style and identity of play, which will establish whether he can get us back in the top eight.

Care to explain why Playing effective pragmatic football at international level has nothing to do with playing effective pragmatic football at any other level, from Sunday league upwards?
Well I'd start with how international tournaments are a short term knockout tournament and that's specifically not what the PL is.

Then I'd probably talk about how international teams have the players they have and as such have to build the system to that while a club team has the ability to sign players that fit how they decide they'd like to play. Not to mention the level of detail and precision in club tactics is far above international tournaments because of the length of time clubs train together compared to the international sides. It was also 2004. Things changed in the last couple of decades.

A better question is how is the 2004 Greek team relevant at all?

Because they won something? If you want something more recent, Morocco finishing 4th playing the same style.

Two years of garbage play is not necessary. The DOF should sit him down and discuss what his plans are for preseason and next season. If the idea Dyche has isn't to significantly progress things beginning next year he should be relieved and someone who does have a plan for that hired.

When Greece won the Euro 2000 tournament with the most dross football I've ever seen, do you think the country cared? Can you take that away from Greece? They've won more Euros than England.
Only six games that though, domestic cups can be won like that as well (95 was like that for us with the exception of Bristol, Newcastle and Spurs iirc). The full course of a domestic season is an entirely different kettle of fish

What about the qualification process as well. It's footy, it's winning things, how does the amount of games played make a difference?

That will never be on the agenda until Premier League safety is achieved.

There won't be any talk of styles of play , the only emphasis is getting the results to keep us up.

This sort of discourse isn’t especially helpful right now

We need to get behind the manager and players whilst we fight for survival

Save this sort of stuff for the summer if manage to stay up
Yep. Time and a place. Getting another manager that could potentially fall short gets us relegated. Dyche looks the right man for the job atm.
