2022/23 Sean Dyche

Given we lost away to United who are arguably the third best team in the league, I’m really surprised at the reaction.

We aren’t being relegated because of yesterday’s result. A draw would hsve been massive, a loss is par.

We are 4th from bottom. We only need to match the other three teams between now and the end of the season and we’ll be fine.

Given the games to play, that’s more than realistic.

Re dyche, I’m just really surprised that so many Evertonians have watched Burnley on a regular basis over the last 10 years.

We've got Palace, Wolves, Leicester and Bournemouth in the run in. All of them in the same boat as us to a degree.

There's 12 points to grab there alone. These are the results that will matter (including Fulham at home).

Anything against City and Newcastle are bonuses. But as they're at home... anything is possible.

A defeat or even draw at home to Fulham I would consider potting him as a last throw of the dice for the season. There's nothing about him that screams he should be retained for the long term if he takes us down.
If we hurry we might even manage to snare Jesse Marsch.

Dyche got it wrong yesterday. I suppose he wanted to see if he could play that way. He wanted to see what he had at his disposal.

Ultimately our back four are too slow to play such a high line so that’s that.

However if there had been even a halfway decent performance from Onana we might have seen it work a bit better. In other words, if Onana had put himself about like Doucoure.

He did change shape and make many more subs than he likes to do, including cutting bait on Godfrey at the half. so he saw that his chosen plan was a failure. It still wasn’t a Lampard game where we got played through like turnstiles because there was no plan.

Maybe he saw it as a free hit, let’s give it a go.

If we play like that at home against Fulham and Newcastle I’ll be worried but we haven’t and we likely won’t.

Kev you mentalist why would we pot a manager who’s picked up 3 wins and 3 draws from his first 10 games? It’s more points than Lampard and one fewer win than Benitez

Very poor defensively in that first half and he should have changed things early on to shore that left side up as Godfrey was gormless and unable to cope in that set up.

Much better second half and if Coleman's mistake hadn't have been punished who knows...

Not his best day in the dugout but I expect this to be a blip, not the usual.

He got it badly wrong. Managers do sometimes. The key is he doesn’t make the exact same mistake again. Need to go back to the formation and tactics that have been serving us well. Garner deserves a go.

I’d go one further, play 3 midfielders who can actually pass a ball to another player controversial i know but hey-ho.

We haven’t got any, embarrassingly enough. Or a striker of Premier league quality, a full back who adds anything going forward… I could go on.

Them teams you mention, will also be looking at visiting our place, and thinking they can walk away with at least a point. We have unreliable players, as witnessed at Manu. Players who simply fail to turn up for 'absolutely crucial' matches. Godfrey, Onana, Gueye, Gray. Then we have the 'try hards', like Coleman, Keane, Iwobi, who all have major mistakes in them. Keane constantly caught out of position, Iwobi seemingly playing 'for' Manu yesterday, the amount of times he passed to one of their players and run into traffic. Seamus Colemans 'Gerry Young' impersonation on the edge of our box, put the top hat on an awful day. Coleman's general game was all over the shop yesterday. Manu must have thought it was Christmas, Easter, and their birthday all rolled into one. I'm not certain, but I could have sworn that Godfrey was drunk.
If we do go down, it's on the players, not Sean Dyche. Could have been 10-0 yesterday, but for yet another superb Pickford display.
