And look how many decisions start going their way once they call out the inept officials.

You think these lads don’t have it in the back of their mind that they’re going to get dug out over certain decisions against certain teams?

I think this also has to do with the media.

Last nights decision was the probably the first time an Everton decision (against) has got so many non Everton media people crying to the high heavens about the state of the game. It took one of the worst decisions on a football field to do it. Innocuous stuff like the handball, like a second yellow are just not going to do it and the media is not going to pay much attention to Dyche.

If Dyche started to angrily rant like they do then the media would turn on him, not the officials. It is the clubs stature on the eyes of the media that work for these managers, they know they are bulletproof with the majority of them and therefore they would focus on punishing the official and that has the knock on effect that the next set of officials are scared. Whereas, the officials are not scared in an Everton game because they know that the focus would not be on them if the manager was publicly angry at them.

I know it probably wouldn’t have done much but would’ve expected him to come and have more of a go at the officials. Thought we looked poor again and apart from the purple patch at the start of December what has he really done? Really really hope he’s here no longer than the end of the season just can’t see him ever taking us further than where we are now.

We have looked OK, in relative terms, all season. It is the finishing that has let us down in a lot of games.

For me, that is not 100% on the manager, if the managers tactics are getting us chances but the players are failing to get it on target then that is coaching to some degree, but not tactics.

Last night we had enough opportunities to win the game, on another day Garner would have put his away, Danjuma would have, Calvert-Lewin would have, etc. Unfortunately, we are not having enough of those 'other days'.

All Dyche was interested in was him. Yes we were much better again than the Wolves game yada yada. Mentality yada. Palace were there for the taking yet he still sits back . He doesn’t represent Everton and have passion for us otherwise he would be saying what most of were thinking . Shocking decision etc etc. plus he should have made the subs earlier yet again. Maybe Lewin doesn’t get sent off.

Maybe the fact that he has a calm persona is the reason why he is doing a decent job here? Maybe why the players are on board with what he is doing?

I prefer this persona, ranting angrily about officials and life in general is not pleasant viewing. I much prefer a manager who is calm under pressure, who doesn't rant and rave at every opportunity, speaks eloquently and to the point in a respectable manner.

He has questioned officials before but the way he does it is the right approach, as being all visibly angry is going to do nothing but turn people against you.
Nice people finish last and never win. I’d rather he kicked off every week, we’ve been a soft touch for years on and off the pitch, jags was the weakest captain I’ve ever seen in my life, at least we have a few players now that will kick off.

3 managers called Andy Johnson a diver 15yrs ago and the club did nothing, then we watched for 12 months him getting kicked all over the gaff and then and only then the club complained and got told 10 of the penalties we argued about, 7 were stone wall pens and this was from the head of the referee’s association

Also the Doucoure/Lampard thing was due to Doucoure sitting on a ball refusing to take part in a pre match warm up and at the time most were fuming about it.
I think Lampard also wanted a more technical player in the 10 role and didn’t trust doucoure as one of the two central midfielders, because he was a liability in possession and a poor defensive midfielder from a positional and tracking point of view

Maybe you are right but as I said there is more to it than a manger 'kicking off'. There have been managers who have been angry all the time, and calling out refs in an angry manner and nothing was done.

I just don't see the point in being that angry and bursting blood vessels in front of a camera, especially if it is totally out of character.

It is not the managers reaction that determines bias, the big majority factor in this, is the media. If Klopp was the politest and quietest man alive, there would still be bias for Liverpool. I just don't get this 'Grrrrr, we have to be overly aggressive and be in the refs face and the manager needs to go full on Hulk on everybody and everything' attitude. It really baffles me as it achieves nothing more, than being calm and measured does.

It is about greed, it is not about refs being scared of a manager ranting after the game.

Also, do you know for a fact that they did nothing. Football acts like a soap opera at times but only a minute part of a football clubs goings on is filmed. So consider that things were tried to inform the relevant people that a belief was had about bias.

We bring in Rugby again, they have a top class refereeing standard. They still make mistakes, of course they do but if a player is even a little bit out of line they get punished, the extreme majority of club managers, coaches, directors of rugby all act in a extremely calm manner when talking to the media, even when asked about contentious decisions, yet they still have a standard that football could only wish in getting close to. What I am getting at is a real world example that screaming in the face of a camera is not the be all and end all of how to act as a human. You can still have a fairly refereed sport without that.

I get the impression based on the fans reactions. the refs revel in it and double down with their officiating using pretty much zero tolerance against us. And no I’m not paranoid.

rugby and football are just different worlds mate

in rugby you have a small population of the country who all went to the same/similar schools. all very much brought up with same attitude/community and lots of blue bloods etc. lots of people who like to fall into line and follow order because the systems in place generally work out well for them whether its sport or just life in general. lots of ex pros become referees or there are decent players who become refs when they don’t turn pro. and they know each other, or their cousin, or their mate. it’s a completely different world

not one good football player wants to be a ref. you are taught to think they are different and weird and to be treated with contempt from day one

football and rugby officiating will unlikely ever be on par

Back to the football, performance was better last night. Shocking in the final third though.

I'm tired of watching these useless shallow crosses from poor angles. They're soft and put the striker 12 yards out from the goal. They'll never work.

Just keep the ball and work a better opportunity. Need more from the wide players.

Would rather see Thelwell come out all guns blazing tbh. Least they won't be able to give him a ban.

Also, as fans, we need to be lobbying the most high profile ex blues to really start speaking up on this. Cahill would be a good start. Not sure if Rodriguez would be arsed enough, but anybody with any sort of global reach, and some affection for us really need to start making their voices heard.

EDIT: Wayne Rooney too.

Harrison should have won that game for us 2-0.

I like Harrison but he was terrible last night especially in front of goal.
