Lost me here mate.

And not sure you answered my question.

So im not sure what you are saying here but, running a thread thorough your criticism you dont like the Everton manager and you dont like the Everton players.

I wouldnt drop any of them as they are our best players. However, I think they can do a lot better on the ball as technically bar Doucoure, they are all decent footballers.

So the fact that we have 30% possession regularly and awful passisng stats must come down to the manager. His coaching and his style. Fair enough we wont go toe to toe attacking City or a good Villa side as it would be suicide. Its not too much to expect we find a blue shirt with a decent amount of passes though. All kick and rush, with a bit of hoof thrown in. Dyche is no different to Allardyce and Benitez imo, negative outdated 'football'.

He's done a good job so far, but I couldnt watch this for another season or two.

I’m obviously not disappointed at the result and don’t expect expansive attacking football but we have absolutely zero quality on the ball.

We constantly gave the ball away with either poor control or poor passing, there’s just no excuse for that, even are we are playing a team who are second in the league.

2 shots on target isn’t great and not likely to get us much. Today was the day it looked like we were lucky to hold on.

Really needed to drop Doucoure back and dial down the counter attacking. Having said that, it’s still a decent point

Im sorry, anyone who watched that and thought we 'played well' needs their heads testing. Up there with Kenwright celebrating escaping relegation as an achievement.

We battled well, we worked hard. Cant knock the fight or commitment. The defence done their jobs, but we certainly didnt 'play' well.

Have we scored from these half way line free kicks, where we throw everyone forward and Pickford takes it like it's the 98th minute but really it's the 17th minute or something.
I think we have a time or two, a Keane goal springs to mind, but it is a hilarious tactic.

My take is actually Dyche’s problem is he hasn’t leaned into it enough. Screw traditional attacks, launch everything long into a crowd and try to play off the scraps. If you’re not going to play on the ground don’t play on the ground.

Can’t believe we played like that against a fellow relegation candidate. Oh wait…..<checks table> ffs some people. Same people who used to whinge at top half finishes is my guess!!!

I'm not a huge fan of the style but I disagree with the comparisons to the allardyce or benitez periods....under both we would seemingly go multiple games without creating a single chance let alone scoring.
Like dyches style or not...we seem to have ample opportunities most games to score despite seemingly playing a very simllistic game.
My biggest dyche issue remains his stubbornness with changes and having favourites (despite how poorly they may be playing)

I disagree with your comparrison and analysis mate.

I think Dyche is a far more progressive manager then some give him credit for, said in the match thread that we play out from the back far more and far more effectively then we did under Lampard or Martinez as advocates of pocession based play. We’ve lived through previous managers with high possession and passing stats that have proven ultimately aimless and some of our most boring periods as fans of the club - don’t know why people think these arbitory stats are an indication of good football - they aren’t.

In terms of style Villa played exactly the same way today. They have better players, Luiz is better then Garner, Watkins better then DCL, Diaby better then Doucoure. A lot of teams play as we do directly - Arsenal for example. The difficulty is we don’t have high quality players collectively thus the manager has to get the most out of them - he’s done an outstanding job of that, go through each player in the team - bar DCL he’s improved them all.

My take is we have a limited bunch of good honest players we incrementally have to improve, we have the right manager for it - that’s a process not an event, but this manager has improved what we have and made us unbelievably competitive from his standing start and circumstances he found.

We are very lucky to have him here and he’s the right man.

I thought Dyche did Emry up like a kipper today. It was obvious at halftime that Villa were starting to cut us to pieces,. In the second half Dyche sent us out to go to war and to disrupt the game whenever possible, this got us a point that we would have never got had we tried to play football against them.

It wasn't pretty, but, it was effective, we are a big team, we are not a great team, if we are getting a tanking turn it into a war. Dyche is the exact manager we need in our current financial position. If and when that financial situation changes then Dyche will probably not be the man we need. Until then however...

Obviously a slight difference of opinions. He has done an excellent job given the circumstances, ill state that. We can be effective going forward. He has tightened us up defensively.

I just think on the ball we are so so poor and making things extra difficult for ourselves. We dont have much of the ball and when we do its really lacking in quality for the most part.

Plus I just dont think any good player will look at us as an attractive proposition under him if they have other choices. I think Elanga turned us down due to Forests' style 'fitting him better'. Who wants to spend each week in a defensive setup, running around for most of the matches and not seeing much of the ball.

Football is a game of opinions and he's just not my cup of tea im afraid.

Says the same thing after every game

“pleased with the resilience of course, we can do better with the ball, we know that…”
Problem for me is he is acknowledging the problem but is seemingly declining to do anything about it. I accept our squad options are very limited but I do not see any attempts tto tweak the formation to be more creative. There are things he could do to try and improve things.
