Absolutely no one would be piping up without the points deduction.
I find it hard to imagine that we would have racked up the wins we have without the points deduction. We were rancid until the points were taken off us. When you play like a non league side a lot comes down to just how aggressive you are. Players had the bit between their teeth following the points deduction and have reverted to type.

That's Dyche's type, not theirs. We don't have a great squad but the forward players are far better than they are showing under Dyche and his atrocious clogball.

We’d be 11th without the points deduction and with the third best defence in the league. After what’s gone and what he has to work with, firing an Everton manager who would get us into Bramley Moore in the PL would be shooting ourselves in the foot.

Yes it’s not pretty but beggars can’t be choosers right now. His competitors got new players in January to help, his luxury was not having to sell. My counter to the above would be Allardyce got sacked after getting us to eighth (but different times/circumstances) with attritional football. Also when Dyche did spend money it was £40m on strikers which hasn’t had an impact, so the goal situation is up to him.

We’ve hounded out a manager a year for quite some time now, it hasn’t served us, nor the financial situation of the club.
If Moyes became available, would you be so sure?

I'm not sure if all that was tongue in cheek or you actually mean it eggs.

I suspect the latter.

I agree that Dyche has been dealt a poor hand but his lack of plan B , his team selections and refusal to make proactive subs are effective counters to the argument that he is doing a terrific job.

If he keeps us up great , I suppose. But where's the enjoyment of watching this rubbish knowing that our sole ambition is to scrape enough points to stay in the division every season.

We need a reset, a new way of playing , one that engaged fans and raises hope and expectations.

If that means selling Pickford , Branthwaite , Onana and DCL and rebuilding under a progressive manager so be it.
Good post, I feel like at the moment we are watching a team limited to defending and hoof. The results at home dictate that we need to be looking at more effective ways to attack.

At present, attending the game at Goodison is a depressing experience.

Some Evertonians are totally unrealistic, as if they still think we are a CL club.
We are relegation fodder and Dyche is doing well to keep us where we are.
If not for the points deduction, none of which is his fault, we would not even be in the relegation conversation.

With the possible exception of Seamus then our entire squad played last night imo.

If we stay up it will be brave owners who sack him, can we afford to sack him anyway ?
We can't carry on playing like that last night it isn't even working and it absolutely crap to watch.
He will have a year left on his deal, what’s he on 4mil a year? And his 2 sidekicks half a million each ?? So maybe 5/6 million I’m sure we can afford that, that’s basically Gomes’s wages

Yeah lets hire a even more divisive manager who plays arguably worse football than Dyche at times with a much, much better squad.
I cannot abide the love that Moyes gets. Imo he gets credit for taking us from relegation fodder and building a good squad, which he then squandered with his dour tactics. However, there were some attacking tactics. Let's have it right, Dyche isn't even in the same league as Moyes. Dyche is a Sunday League manager who's squirmed his way into PL management.

Oh hell no.

Annoying thing last night was that we did step it up a bit 2nd half, looked in the ascendancy, got 2 good subs on at 65 mins (which is early for Dyche) and then as soon as the subs come on we get sucker punched. I hate to bemoan it too much but we really have had very little luck this season.

He has somehow played worse football than we have at times this season, i don't think i've seen a worse home performance than the 0-6 thrashing vs Arsenal. Moyes is good at winning the games he's expected to win but fails miserably when coming up against a stronger side.
