He has several gameplans, just only sticks to 1 and changes only if we're getting smashed or if it's too late so he can say "we've tried" in the presser afterwards.
Think that’s a valid criticism. It’s like he feels the potential brief disruption isn’t worth it. Subs could also be slightly earlier.

My other criticism would be I think the chip on his shoulder for being labelled as he is, makes him almost want to surprise the fancy managers too much.

Still think he’s boss & has a lot of credit in the bank when things aren’t going his way in the odd game.

I'm very much on record for my dislike of him as a manager but I'm also on record being impressed he's turned it around so far. Spot on in what you're saying though - then again I suppose if he was ultra-practical and made choices like that we'd be the Atletico Madrid of Britain in 2 years time and he'd be lauded as the next Cholo*.

* Pipedream, but a dream nonetheless lol

Sean Dyche has done a remarkable job in his eleven months at Everton.

We have gone from a bloated squad to a paper thin one. We are carrying injuries and do not have direct replacements for them so the team is twisted and turned to get a competitive team on the pitch.
Yet, if it wasn't for the points deduction we would be almost safe from relegation already.
We got knocked out by Fulham on Tuesday but the didn't beat us on the pitch.
We will have to see what January brings in the transfer market, if anything, but we certainly need a couple of bodies.

I don't know if Sean Dyche would change the team around if he had more options but really his hands are tied at the moment.

That blert Boyland from the Athletic been reading me on here:

"Tellingly, Everton have won just once this season when they have had the majority of possession in a game — and that was a late comeback against League Two side Doncaster Rovers....Until Everton forge a viable Plan B, setbacks of this nature will never be too far away."

Yeah and also the other 100000 people who have said that for the last half a year or so.

That said, Charlie is a knobhead so I agree with you that he's wrong.
He may change systems from time to time but his style stays the same. As proven with the fact we never win when we concede first, more teams will take the Fulham, Luton approach. Get your big players in the team defend a little deeper, defend your box well and you can nullify us pretty easily.

I didn’t want dyche and surprised how well he’s done, but he has a ceiling and it won’t change imo. I’m not one of these that thinks he will change over time. He will always prefer hard work over talent. When a team scores first and then sits a little deeper we don’t have them players who can unlock a defence or do something off the cuff.

V Fulham yes we were limited through injuries but he kept 3 CB’s on and 3 defensive midfielders on for the whole game, he could have gone 2 upfront, he could have brought danjuma on sooner or Chermiti, Dobbin. Even Godfrey and a young midfielder. We looked dead on our feet in the last 15mins and need some fresh legs. And I’m still gobsmacked Chermiti and dobbin weren’t brought in for pens. And then we wouldn’t have seen gana take one

Is it just me ? Wish we had not sacked Silva !

Codswallop. But if you're going to take your footy analysis that deep to the headline formation set up then I'll leave it thanks. The basis of his attacking strategy is always the same. Defenders are too rigid and if our ball playing mid is off his game in any way we are screwed. The bloke is a dinosaur and I'd say this same if he was any nationality. Seems a really decent bloke but no footballing guru
You certainly know about codswallop, as most of your posts are full of it...

Out of intrest what do klopp and pep have as there plan b?
Quite a few different setups in general, the RS are good at both keeping possession effectively but also to sit back and wait for counters, and their overload game is usually on point (because of the fact they all have 7 lungs each so it doesn't have to stop ever).

City control possession quite a lot but also stand off and go direct so they avoid teams getting back into shape, essentially counter attacking when they get the ball.

I mean that's just during games for the most part.

We have 1 plan and we stick to it, be it lump it to Dom/Doucoure or play direct, hence the problem of this not working when other teams let us keep the ball, as we have seemingly not worked on doing that at all ever.

Ye fair points i do think though its tough with are calibre of players to have them ready in different systems it would probably blow there minds

Well I'd at least like if we showed some progress towards it as if we don't - we're essentially found out lol

We occasionally play some good combinations in reality. Hilariously we suffered/complained when we had crabs passing sideways, whereas now Dyche is probably giving them extra laps to do if they don't pass forward lol

Doesn't help we have Gana as a mainstay who can't pass, Young and Coleman who can't move into more forward positions faster and because of that we have to have the winger further back, etc. If, and that's a MEGA HUGE IF, we get Dyche better players and that's still a visible issue it would be safe to say it's not who the players are that is the problem with that. My opinion on that is that even with a bit more resources he'll go for ExPeRiEnCeD options and we'll see regular starters being signed age 35-36+ anyway lol
