2023/24 Sean Dyche

Saying our strikers can't finish? We don't practice passing what makes people think we practice shooting. You can't ask a concert pianist to turn up and play after practising the tambourine all year. Dyche disregards the technical side of football, passing shooting dribbling, in favour of shape and defensive positioning and running around like yard dogs.
Congratulations for fitting tambourine into a footy forum post. Never thought I would see that ;)

He’s frustrating and definitely not the longer term answer, but he will most likely keep us up. This team is relegation fodder and it’s sometimes easy to forget how absolutely dire we were under Benitez and Lampard with arguably a better side (Digne and Richarlison). It isn’t pretty but it’ll do the job until we’re ready to take the next step.

Sounded a bit rattled in his post match interview. Genuinely surprised at how shocked he is that our attacking players aren't scoring goals which I think goes to demonstrate his loyalty to players who just aren't good enough.

The likes of Harrison, McNeil, Beto and DCL are always going to let him down but he doesn't see that. He actually thinks they've got it in them to be better than what they're showing right now.

A rudderless club with a pissed up captain at the helm

Yep and all desperate to stay in a league where if we do, we'll be selling Branthwaite in the summer, probably one of Onana or Pickford, whilst extending deals for Young and Gueye, to watch some of the most depressing, turgid, predictably crap football witnessed at Goodison for many a year......in the hope of surviving again so we can then watch similar crap football in a shiny new stadium.

Everything to do with Everton is absolutely pointless

The problem of our home form is that we don‘t pick enough points against teams on our level. Not judging the performances here.

Better teams 2/3/4 9 points in 9 games

City, Brighton, Utd, Villa, West Ham, Spurs, Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea

Liverpool

Slightly better, similiar or slightly worse 1/1/2 4 points in 4 games

Wolves ,Palace, Bournemouth, Fulham

Forest, Brentford

Worse teams 0/0/1 0 points in 1 game
Luton

Sheffield, Burnley

What bothers me is not so much that he's doing a bad job as much as he's not really doing enough to try to improve a team that is clearly not perfect. As an example he's gotten nothing creatively from wide players for weeks and weeks now. It's just repeated attempts to have Harrison and McNeil win 1v1, which they're not good at, and launch crosses, which they're also not good or consistent at, with no combinations or overlaps. At some point you just have to attempt something different.
