The only long thing about our footy is the style of football we play, long ball. It’s death by a thousands cuts, it’s like having teeth drilled.

I've seen worse. Ndiaye was the most talented player on the pitch attacking wise when all is said and done.

Corners were a problem...not today. A dangerous Barnes was pretty much neutralised too.

That was a solid defensive display.

Newcastle have a lot of good attacking players, let's not underestimate what our defence and GK did today.

….Howe said it was easily their best away performance.

Garner, Keane and Young deserve praise for ‘filling in’ so effectively against an attack of genuine pace and threat. We rode our luck at times but might consider ourselves unlucky not to have nicked it.

We comfortably swatted this Newcastle side 3-0 in the same game last season, we were lucky for a missed pen and a goal line clearance not to deservedly lose tonight. We’re supposed to progress not regress

Do you understand that if How puts in an average performance and Dyche puts in ana average performance, and every player on the pitch puts in an average performance then Newcastle win the game? They’ve got significantly better players in most potions and on their bench.

This is the same equation every time we play a team with better quality than us which is 2/3 of the league seeing as we’re probably 13-15th best squad.

So every time we’re asking Dyche and the players to outperform their opposition counterparts by a lot to get a win or even a result sometimes. Were a bottom half PL team were not going to be able to do this every time or even most times.

People are just going around saying it’s not good enough for Everton. Of course it’s not for the historical institution we are, but for the reality of us having a bottom half squad today, then it’s the exact sort of result we’re going to see time and time again and it’s the exact sort of results that our bottom half peers are getting too.

Friedkin and the new stadium changes this reality, not bleating at Dyche every week that he should be slapping Newcastle 4-0 to show progress on a 3-0 win last season.

There is no scenario that the "end goal" is to just stay in the league at the end of the season. Is there no ambition to do something with season 2024/25? Just finish 17th or higher?

In what world would you think our ambition should be any different…. Look at the last few years. Nothing has changed and in fact the squad generally only gets worse along with management.

Our end goal for this season is to remain a top flight club.

Get new ownership, get in the new stadium and kick on.

Let’s be realistic instead

I honestly don’t think there is , to me the narrative is “survival “ till we move stadiums.

If that is the case then the new owners better get this club sorted because what good is a new home if it’s simply the same stinking thinking running through it.

The new place isn’t simply going to be our saviour. The club itself has to change as well.

Isn't it realistic to ask to get between 12-15 again this season.
