2024/25 Sean Dyche

In context though, Brighton, Spurs and Villa are better teams - full deck i think we could have got a result VS Brighton.

Bournemouth was a cluster f admittedly. Absolute system shut down - shouldn't happen.

Feel personally when we get a settled starting back four - we will be grand, we always seem to start the season with a hangover from our poor recruitment, last season it was forwards injured & unavailable this year its full backs - while our best player at centre back is also out. Take the full backs and best player out of any team in the PL and they are going to find it harder to get results.

Red Flags/Alarm bells whatever you want to call them - the club should have been relegated by now - in all honesty the way its managed holistically as an institution it shouldn't be in the league - i think the team stayed up last day 22/23 is probably the worst ever to stay up in the league. No one has ever stayed up before with a points deduction let alone two until we did it last season.

The fact that we still have headbangers on here feeling entitled to be well up the table given the injuries we've had, is testament to the outcomes achieved with a manure show handed to the manager every season hes been here.

Its actually evidence of the good job done ironically.

In life an umbrella become useless and discarded after its shielded and protected you and kept safe a period of time, when the sun comes out.
The manner of the defeats is what is alarming people.

Dyche has done a really good job up to this season. These four games have been nothing short of disastrous - and the players need to take a lot of criticism for their cowardice. But there is no getting away from the fact that we have found creative and innovative ways to toss points away. For a side with the fourth-best defensive record in the league last season to concede 13 in 4 whilst blowing two (!) two-goal leads in a row is some going.

It's unacceptable.

Will he survive? Nothing will change until the ownership changes. But he will lose supporters - who have backed him, like me - along the way. And when the time comes for us all to put one more shift in to stay up again, I don't think the stomach will be there. People have been made idiots of by this club. These players have found ways to torture the fans this season, giving them false hope and making laughing stocks of us two weeks running. And that exlcudes the 4-0 shellacking. Dyche keeps starting us with nine men - so circumstances aren't a shield for his culpability either.

People are entitled to be fed up. I think we're too sanguine about this appalling start and think we'll soon find ourselves adrift if things don't dramatically change and soon. Branthwaite alone will not be that change. We'll get injuries.

But leaving ALL of that aside, the really saddening thing is to see how standards have dropped among the fanbase now. To be expected, really, but the first four matches this season should never be acceptable or brushed aside. Dyche is expected to get 17th - nothing more. Because that's the KPI from the top. But the manner of these first four games suggests that he is determined to make it an even tighter "great escape" this season than ever before.

Stop peddling this lie ffs

Vitor Pereira & Lampard were the only two in the frame when Benitez left.

Dyche was the only one after Lampard left.

Have you seen the names in the frame ? Does our dear friend @Neiler need to post them ?

You're living in cuckoo land.

Dyche is the best we can hope for at present. Things will improve - we beat Forest, Liverpool & Brentford in the space of a week when the doom mongers were telling anyone who would listen that we were going down.

Get behind the man & keep the faith.

Why don’t you post them? I expect Allardyce and Pulis will be on there if your incoherent ramblings are anything to go by.

To be fair to Dyche - he more than served his purpose and he did what he was appointed to do with great credit: he kept us up twice in chronic circumstances. The man more than played his part and should have been sent off as a hero at the end of last season had the board played its part and had its house in order.

But our board is actually doing a worse job than Michael Keane is. And that's why we are now experiencing the diminishing returns of Dycehball. His battery is empty and we have forgotten to recharge the club while he was saving it.

I still can't get over how bad a substitution he made yesterday. There was no need to have so many square pegs in round holes.

At one point we had Garner as a 3rd centre half floating aimlessly around, Harrison at right back and Mcneil had a stint at right wing when he went 5 at the back (which ended up with O'Brien looking like a right wing back in spells)

All the while, a natural right back who didn't disgrace himself against Spurs, sat on the bench whilst Dyche tries every other option than the one that was glaringly obvious.

It's inexcusable management and it happens game after game as he gets far more wrong than he gets right.

This isn't just a blip, this is a continuation from the poor form from Christmas onwards. He can't get the balance right, he hasn't set the team up right, in possession there's no plan in place, there's no plan B.

I'm flabbergasted that anyone thinks he should be given any more time. The excuses have ran out and he's incapable of getting the best out of what is available to him.

6m to sack him or lose 100m to be relegated?

"Keep the faith".

It makes as much sense in the context of Everton as it ever did in the Catholic church...

Sorry but I can't stand Moyes, he is as much of a dinosaur as Dyche is, it would be kicking the can down the road even more. I don't like Dyche one bit but he will keep us up.

I understand people dont like moyes because of some stupid comment he made when he left us and that but hes 100x the manager dyche is. You're just blinded by your dislike for him.

Moyes is no where near a dinosaur. He took us from relegation fodder to challenging for Europe every season and i believe would of won us a cup if he had some financial backing.

Then over the last 5 years hes taken west ham from relegation fodder to being in europe every season and winning a European cup.

He was also fairly attacking and popularised attacking fullbacks in this league. Obviously he was pragmatic and would set his team up to sit back and defend if we were up against a top team but never like the dross we're seeing now.

I remember when us winning 10-12 games and only loosing 2-4 out of 19 at home was common most seasons. Now weve won 5 games since December.

Moyes get the club and he gets the fans and more importantly hes a good manager with standards (remember those). It was rare that we got beat twice on the bounce under him, now its every season we go on some 10+ game winless streak. That doesn't happen under moyes.

I think from a confidence perspective something has to give one way or another. Either a new manager, a system change, or a massive swap of playing staff. Confidence will be rock bottom and lining up with the same team and tactics isn't going to change that.

Had a peak at our next manager odds this morning, a few on here would be in for a snotty drop in their "ambition".

Its the strength (or not) of the proposition

To any manager the current positives:

- could negotiate a big salary
- Everton are a big historical club
-new stadium next season
- Everton has some good players in Pickford Branthwaite Ndiaye

Current negatives:

-ownership position unclear, could get removed once resolved
-poor squad that is bottom half and been in multiple relegation battles
-attacking players are awful
-fan expectations are sky high
-unlikely to win a trophy or qualify for Europe immediately
-you’ll be selling your best player every summer window until finances resolved
-incoming players are free, loans, or no payment upfront

Now if you’re in a good job already don’t leave it to take this one? Probably not

If you’re not in a good job already but are an in demand prospect and can wait for a good offer to come up either this season or in the summer (which it will) so you take this job? Probably not

So who would take this job? Everton ex player who love the club, Lower league managers who want to be in PL and don’t see themselves taking their own clubs up, unemployed managers without other offers or the prospect of getting one, managers who don’t want to be here but we upped the salary to an amount they couldn’t say no to.

Either way we don’t want to be shopping in that last group.

Imagine being the keeper or one of the defenders and realising Michael Keane is in the back four again...
