2024/25 Sean Dyche

Whilst Dyche and Thelwell are in the last year of their contracts they won’t be getting a renewal no matter if he turns things around. Thelwell doesn’t have to be sacked, may not even be a new owner in by Jan transfer window so he is here until a takeover occurs as a minimum. Dyche will need a miracle of results to be retained if he is still here at the end of the year but that’s highly doubtful. On the flip side Moshiri will be hoping he gets a trickle of results, so he doesn’t have to appoint a new Manager. If he does there is no way he is offering a new Manager any longer than to the end of the season, so as it makes it easier and less expensive for the new owner to bring in his choice picks. Having a choice to retain or appoint a new Manager and Director of Football at no cost would help negotiations. I don’t think there are too many even half decent managers willing to join on those terms, so we are probably a few loses away before his hand is forced.

Honestly don’t think they will, think Sky will want to turn it into some kind of event for TV, just hope the club manage it with a bit of dignity, think the games to be at will be the ones before the last one - often the way - semis are often better occasions then finals because they are organic. That’s what I’m doing anyway.

Don’t go getting hopeful on me today!

Hard to know what Everton turn up, injuries won’t help, I think he will think the result may be more important then the performence - he’s prob right. Hes going to hand possession to Leicester - that’s their game. I think he could play Doucoure and Garner if fit today and Tim comes out - try and shore it up in the middle were we have been getting overrun and play a low block with Vardy.

You know my take and reasons for it - but ultimately it’s a results industry and we know and he will know he needs results and sharp.

If I’m honest I thought he looked a bit worn this week, I’m beginning to think he thinks, he could be better off out of it.
Yeah , I totally agree about the making goodbyes before the last game ( and about semi -finals) . The club will mess up the last game with shmaltzy ‘celebrations ’ no doubt .
With Dyche , I confess during the Bournemouth about the 80min mark , I thought I was going to be coming on here afterward admitting begrudging praise for him, it was the best game I have seen under him , Felt like we were in control for a change.
To be honest , he was already earning my respect for his love of music which I share with him.
But then the wheels came off , spectacularly.
His in game management, which has never been his strongpoint was fatally exposed.
Everyone could see that Harrison , Irroegbunam and Coleman where tiring.. But when he interceded it was to replace two players who were giving them the most to worry about.
Not only that , the adjustments he made to seemingly accommodate Doucoure and Beto further exposed our midfield and defence to the fresh legs of Bournemouth. Yet he chose not to strengthen the defence with Dixon or O’Brien.
For me, it was one of the worst cases of in game management I’ve ever seen.
Even worse in the aftermath he chose to shirk any responsibility for it, thereby choosing to throw his players under the bus. Which compounded what I already believed was particularly bad management.
He quite literally snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
It’s a long way back for him now to convince me that he is capable of continuing as our manager.
I hope he can start that journey today.
Always want our team to win games whoever the manager is , or what’s the point ?
I take no pleasure in defeat.
( although I did raise a wry smile when City defeated us at Goodison to deny the RS)
At present I would sack Dyche immediately, but if he can prove me wrong and start winning games , with at least a modicum of attacking intent, then we will all be happy.
It’s over to you Sean .

I think we're too reactionary as fans.

Nobody wants Sean Dyche.

He's not fashionable, and I think that's partly why so many are particularly reactionary to him. Calling for managers like Potter, who have an even lower win rate than Dyche.

I'm seeing posts like this;

... and most, on shouty social media - agree.

But c'mon.

When he come in - 99% had us as down. We were down and out. Don't make me post the league table before he come in, and the immediate fixture list and us having no striker again...

2 seasons on the bounce we relied on the last home game of the season to stay up.

If people said after Bournemouth, we're going to sell more than we buy, and get massive point deduction - after the previous 2 years you'd again write us off as down.

He earned 48 points last season - that's massive progress from the 24 months before him.

We then again, sold more than we bought.

What's changed to make 95% approval of the manager (our survey at the end of last season). The consensus on social was the fella should have been in manager of the year shouts.

What has changed is - 4 league games. 3 Including Brighton, and Aston Villa and Spurs away.

It's mad, really.

I completely agree with all of this.

Schalke lost yesterday at home after a 3:0 lead 3:5, could we do that as well?

3 goals under Dyche would be a miracle tho.
There are a lot of similarities between ourselves and Schalke.
Both seem to be in irreversible and potentially terminal decline.
Both are noted for passionate and working class fans.
It’s not inconceivable that in few years both will be just memories.
