2024/25 Sean Dyche

Agree its not the easiest run of games but you can't just write off the start of the season.

Teams get unexpected results - Forest yday.

The worst thing for me is not having the players ready again. They're clearly not fit enough to start the season.

The preseason was a shambles and it didn't have to be. The first few games set the tone for the whole season and he flunks it every time.

Exactly same at Burnley if I remember correctly.
Yep.

No argument from me on any of that.

TBH, on the fitness issue: I'd be mindful working the players too hard in pre-season given the propensity for Everton players to be sitting in the treatment room for huge swathes of the season.

I remember Moyes' pre-seasons and he'd have them in boot camp in Italy and really getting fitness levels up there. But Moyes had a very decent squad-depth with competition for places and a few quid to dip into for another addition to the squad (pre-2009 anyway).

Why did he go 5 at the back at 2-2 and not at half time when it was still 2-1? I thought it was a bit strange

He should have gone to it at 2-0...it's clear that teams are flooding our 18 and we don't have the numbers to deal with it. One centerback gets pulled out and now we're hoping that a fullback (even though we don't have any) are winning headers against 2-3 players.

We're already sitting back, might as well add a player who's an actual defender back there.

He should've made the change at half time

Wasn't it carlo that give both Keane and Holgate big new contracts.

Amazing manager, but he was a woeful appointment and set this club back years.

It was a poor appointment. Our financial issues must have been clear at that point, and he wasn't going to stick around for Demarai Gray at 2 million.

Great manager, decent season, wrong time for his appointment.

The only reason I'm not totally the Dyche out gang, an injury to one of the best CBs in the league would make things tougher on any team, but our lack of depth makes us especially vulnerable.. If Branthwaite comes back and stays fit we'll be fine. We simply can't have Keane on the field any more, him being there has cost us 6 points, he unsettles everyone as they have to keep an eye on him for when they need to cover the next mess up.
The thing is though we literally went out and bought a new one, who was first team in France.

The reason Keane plays is because dyche knows him.
