2024/25 Sean Dyche

I do.

It’s 2024 and I’m absolutely sick of watching a side that can’t keep the ball.

Seen plenty of people say they want a progressive manager, then boo when we keep hold of the ball for longer than 2 minutes at the back.

The fans complain when we don’t have possession, but then quick to moan whenever we do. At times at home it's fine if we play it around the back for a bit, problem is we currently don't know what to do with it whenever we do have the ball for longer than 30 seconds

I think his style has pretty much stayed the same since he joined, difference was at the start we where far more aggressive as a team

He was “top” for most turnovers in opposition final thirds, they pressed with far more aggression, tried to win the ball back high up the pitch & when we were in possession, the direct balls were in far better areas.

All they do now is retreat & give possession up. Ashley Young was giving an interview last night talking about that’s what they set out to do every week.

It’s 100% different than what he started with.

The Liverpool game last aeason should be Dyches blueprint at goodison. Teams should be roughed up good and proper and struggle to contain the tempo. Obviously it’s not going to be that way every game but more often than not teams should come away from goodison in bits. I think I can count on one hand the times it’s happened under him. Fulham strolled around all game yesterday and a better team would have waltzed it.

Can do it against one of the best sides in the country but concede possession at home to the likes of Fulham & Southampton.

Pertinent point here is apathy being worse than anger, and at least with anger you get a crowd antagonising a reaction out of listless Everton teams. Totally feel you on the apathy at times, which for something that can drive some much passion in our lives is just sad really. To better times
Without doubt you are correct.
Anger , for all its negative aspects, at least relies on an active interest.
Apathy reveals a disconnect with the club , it is absence of hope.
Anger passes but apathy grows.

I don’t think he will.

I think it’ll be the summer. That gives the Friedkins time to get their feet under the table, asses the club operation and get a plan in place to execute in the summer.

The last thing we need is to limit our transfer power by paying off Dyche, his team, and our new manager’s current club when we don’t really have to.

He’ll keep us up, but little more. That’s fine as a baseline to start from.
These guys have a plan, they have a clue, they get rid and replace within days

I remember Royle very well best football I’ve seen in 30yrs. Even when he took over in the bottom 3 he didn’t play the we’re crap card and let’s just sit back every week and hope to survive, even in that first season, we beat Utd twice, Newcastle twice, Liverpool, Chelsea away, Leeds, battered spurs in the cup. Drew away at Arsenal and Liverpool. And you’re comparing that to dyche, who sets up not to lose,
Has won one game from 1
Nil down and averages 35% possession and a goal a game through his whole career

I don’t think Everton fans (majority) want a “progressive” manager, I actually think most would much rather what Dyche had them doing when he first turned up.

High pressing, direct, football in the final thirds. While he’s come in and done a job, his “style” has got worse.

Apparently we've never played this way under Dyche according to @blueboy72

He hasnt done it for about 12months now but it definitely was the closest to Royle in bursts than i remember other managers doing.

What are you actually waffling on about

You've never watched Italian football.

And then we get told it’s not the manager and how he sets up. It’s mind boggling.

I dont see anyone posting that?

That’s the issue though isn’t it. Football like this never produces consistent results and never has

Of course it has. Theres been many 'nasty' and 'negative' sides over the years known for their 'spoiling' and 'dark arts'. Typically they were well known and despised as they were winning things.

Pep and other managers who adopt this passing style...how to compete with those teams who have massive amounts of capital and have been playing this way for several years under top coaches?

Surely you find someone who can play an equally effective way but doing something different?

We absolutely did when he first turned up. I’m sure us & Arsenal were at the top of a table for turnovers in the oppositions final third for several weeks/months?

They were creating huge chances every week & as usual couldn’t score. I’d have taken that every other week but his football has been dire for ages.

Practising the ‘dark arts’ being aggressive but still playing good football or two entirely different things. That Leeds team of the 70s I presume you are referring to still played attacking futon foot aggressive football. This team doesn’t even play football.

Passing the ball around the back line for 2 minutes isn’t progressive is it.

It should be the blueprint, but only when we play better sides.

Having no plan B when we're at home against a lesser side is hilarious ineptitude.
