"the gruff voice and the bouncer image"

Yes, there's a lot of prejudice against Dyche. Most objections to him have been based on childish views rather than on football reasons.

He has managed his teams very well so far. And he's shown he can be flexible by winning in the Championship and steadily improving in the Premier League.

The only objection based on football reasons - football grounds - is that he hasn't managed a top club yet, or been able to sign top class players. But we have staff who are dedicated to making successful transfers, don't we?

But Dyche is a manager not a magician. Nobody can produce a team out of our present squad. Nevertheless, BFS will come here for the money like a shot. He'll be out to get his bonus, not to please the fans.

Weird that most educated football journalists, pundits and the like see Dyche as an excellent manager - but a load of lads on an Everton forum think he's a Sunday league manager

I wonder who might be right?
They think he is an excellent appointment because they think Everton are a midtable club who should be happy just staying in the Premier League.

The fans want more for a once illustrious club.

Genuinely can't remember the last time I read something from a newspaper sports journalist I thought was insightful & made me think I had learnt something.

The majority spout rhetoric & once a narrative is formed stick to it regardless of what happens on the pitch

There is none. Most live in a monthly bubble from what highlights they see to sell an article/TV show. "Are man city the best side in the premier league era?" No. What a stupid comment.

And all they agree is the "British managers need a chance" and none other than plucky everton will do.

Dyche has had a good couple of months. If we were in the same position last season, his name wouldn't be mentioned.

Forever punching above our weight and Dyche is the perfect fit.

Definitely the people who drove out players like Stones and Barkley but revere the Naismiths and Sraqualursis of this world.

He's been considered to be an excellent manager long before we needed him.

And I'd kill for us to be a midtable club right now

Was he? When he got them relegated and could've been fired I didn't see anyone saying he was excellent.

Done well at being 5 years at a club and building.

He'll have 12 months here to prove himself.

See Mr Moyes at United.

They used to get themselves in a lather about Martinez - flawed logic

What you've got to realise is that unfortunately many of our fans (and of other clubs) are crass, naive, short-sighted and incredibly flippant.

Is Dyche underwhelming? Yes, if you consider the grandeurs we're hoping for, but reality tells us that we are currently a long way off such heights.

Taking off the Blue tinted glasses, we're in a real mess and as such we unfortunately need to think realistically in the short to medium term.

In my humble opinion, Dyche has overall done a good job at Burnley over the years as shown by this season and some of the football they play.

He's not without limitations and there's concerns whether he can turn us around, yet he's well respected in footballing circles which shows merit.

Would I prefer someone like Ancelotti? Too right I would, however realistically there's currently no chance; similarly with Tuchel chances are low.

Others will disagree with my view and that's fine, but right now I'd be content with his appointment if it was part of a longer term plan to success.

I remember seeing Lakaku & Kev laughing when word came out that Martinez had got the Belgium job, yes makes one wonder.
