Transfer Rumour Sean Longstaff

Completely different type of player.
I’m not disputing that… it could go either way .. but I’m prepared to wait and see before coming to a conclusion mate
He’s certainly not going to be a regular starter, why sign him for money, when we can get him free in the summer? I personally would not sign him at all, because , he’s Tommy D Mark 2. We already have Tommy D Mark 1 and we don’t need to give him a long contract on wages which will make it difficult to shift him when Benitez is sacked.

How can you say latley

How can you say lately he has started to improve, he has only played once this season under Howe. I saw him 2 or 3 time last season and from what I saw in my opinion he will defiantly not improve our team. please don't waste any more money on useless players
He has played 14 games this season.

The games you saw him play last season was when he was playing in a position that is not suitable for him. He never has and never will be a defensive midfielder.

I don't want him personally or anything like that, just shedding some light on why he was seemingly quite highly rated and then seemed to tank badly, it was due to him playing in a different position.

Again mate .. that’s all supposition… none of us know any of it for certain
Do we not? Cast your mind back over the several managers we’ve had since Moshiri came in, take a look at the number of players we have coming out of contract soon, we haven’t been able to sell them because we are paying them too much money and we gave them long contracts. Now, take a look at players who are not going to be out of contract soon, Iwobi, Keane, Holgate, etc. etc. all given long term contracts by previous managers we can’t shift them.

Now we come to our present situation, Rondon 2 years, option of 3rd, no chance of moving him on Longstaff would again be on a long term contract and, as it seems only us and Forest are interested in him, it seems that when Benitez is eventually sacked we will once again be left with a player we can’t shift who we have to pay until his contract runs out. See where I’m going here, if we let Benitez carry on with signings like these we will be replacing one set of players from a previous regime that we can’t move on with another set.

He adds nothing to the first team and really he isn’t a big improvement on our bench options, just, potentially more expensive than the likes of Davies and Oneyengo.

Nah he’s always been a defensive midfielder, his best games he was playing similar to Carrick.
His injury affected his mobility and he had a drop off in form.

1. English
2. Young
3. Had a good game

These are the three ingredients required for the sky 'pundits' to foam at the mouth about the next Maldini / Xavi / Ronaldo / Messi

Like most it turns out number 3 can't be turned into a plural.

Remember how much they were choking one out about Reece Oxford after 1 game.
Fair point. Oxford is starting to do well in Germany now though. Probably better than our CBs lol

Carrick wasn't a defensive midfielder well not in the traditional sense.

Put it this way his game is not about tackling and winning the ball back. When he was asked to do that he suffered for it (along with his injury).
