Allan: 2.9
Fred: 2.3
Ndidi: 2.2
Moutinho: 2
Longstaff: 2
Neves: 1.9
Fabinho 1.8

I've seen too little of Longstaff, but I've seen enough of Fred, Ndidi, Moutinho, Neves and Fabinho to know that they would strengthen Everton.

Fabinho is a sitter, but Liverpool play such a high line that of course he is going to have his numbers skewed a bit. Ndidi has been playing all over the shop for Leicester this season. Longstaff isn't on 2 so I don't know where you're getting those numbers from.

So….what would this Longstaff dude bring to our mighty blues.
He's aggressive with his pressing and has decent energy to cover ground. He's a big unit in that sense.

He's a decent passer when it comes to keeping hold of the ball. Not progressive but a bit of a 'water carrier'. Does have a decent eye for a nice floated pass out wide or over the top, or did when he first came through.

He's pretty average in every other department and unless the entire team unit presses, he gets bypassed very easily.

I think we most likely arent willing to pay much for him and just see him as a 4th-5th option. You put in the low bid now, hes now on notice we are interested, and if they dont sell now you sign him on a free in the summer. He knows Benitez so you use that to add depth.

Literally every critical comment that has been posted on here could and did apply to Gray before we signed him. Let's hope Benitez has an eye for a player.
Ey?

Nobody was looking at Gray's defensive or tackling stats.

I for one was pleased with Gray. Great fee and a player with pace and skill to play in a way that we needed.

The issue with Longstaff is he doesn't solve any issue in midfield we have other than being a body. That's fine, I assume we're shifting others out, but he isn't a sitter and he isn't creative. If Benitez persists with a two-man midfield (which he almost certainly will) I don't see what good it does.

Longstaff, like Allan, wants to press up and hassle the opposition. He isn't a sitter so that means we're pretty much in the same boat.

He isn't a 4th/5th option. Benitez wanted him in the summer. He'd be the primary rotation option.

Look, not saying he's an awful player, there's just far better out there. It's another player that this manager is dead set on wanting, which we were supposed to get away from.

You may not see it but I doubt we'd be persisting for him if Benitez didn't think he could fit in this system.
