Transfer Rumour Sean Longstaff

Not at all.

He broke through under Benitez and had the "Oooh he looks good for a young player" look about him (remember Davies against City?)

United "mooted" to buy him, doesn't mean they wanted to as they instead trusted McTominay. He's not at McTominay level or Harry Winks' level (2 players who people would turn their nose up at)

Since then... torpedoed downhill. Can't even stake a claim in an awful Newcastle side. He's 24. He's basically should be an established player.

He's bang to less than average who runs lots. But hey, he's cheap and Raffa loves him which are the only positives in him because as a player there aren't many.

Im not expecting him to be boss mate but the reality is fans want us to continue spending £15+ million per player then DCL or Richarlison will need to be sold as we're only signing the LB/RB for fees based on Dignes imminent departure.

If Longstaff can come in and do a job when required for a nominal fee / reasonable wages then thats a positive in my eyes.

I still think we need a boss CM alongside Doucoure and hope thats the priority in the summer but for now the squad needs padding out with more reliable players who can keep fit and do the basics in this league.

Can someone give a balanced and fume free account of why he’s gone from Sky darling to Newcastles bench in the last few years. Injuries?

….you continue to have a view that you can only bring in dross in our financial position. We shouldn’t be settling for 2nd best, it’s a big old world out there, there is quality to be had at decent prices.

You could say that about Gray. Failed at a couple of clubs or didn't get the chance and is excellent for us.
Gray didn't fail at Leicester. He refused a new contract because he wanted more game time. Their fans liked him and don't understand why he left to end up at everton. Plus he's only just 25.

He had his head a bit turned by thoughts of going to United for £50m, Benitez leaving and Bruce arriving meant he wasn't exactly flavour of the month plus the whole takeover saga and consistent Everton links meant he is probably a player who needs a new challenge so it isn't the worst deal but he is out of contract in the summer and we are the ONLY team to have ANY interest in him.

1. English
2. Young
3. Had a good game

These are the three ingredients required for the sky 'pundits' to foam at the mouth about the next Maldini / Xavi / Ronaldo / Messi

Like most it turns out number 3 can't be turned into a plural.

Remember how much they were choking one out about Reece Oxford after 1 game.
