Transfer Rumour Sean Longstaff

£50m quoted to Man Utd 2 years ago?

Even if they drop that price by 50%, it would be surprising. At £25m he would hold his value if we decided to sell on if it didn't work out, I suppose.

An underwhelming signing though.
25 million, you know we are talking about Sean Longstaff do you? Any more than 2.5 million would be daylight robbery.

It sounds like a David Moyes signing.
Young player comes into the team and does very well.
Then for some reason his career stalls.
Moyes steps in....

Young, English and experienced in the Premiership.
About to come to the end of his contract so he will be cheap now or free in the summer.
Hard to see how we could not make money on him.

We are the only club interested in him and by all accounts for a fee less there 10m. There must be a reason for this. Alternatively a number of clubs are interested in Digne.

He's got 5 months left on a contract. Are you seriously suggesting he is worth 25m? Have I just read this correctly?

Also, if United thought he was worth 50m then they would have signed him for 50m. They didn't, so his value is clearly not 50m.

Isn't that similar to Longstaff?
Has he been offered a contract at Newcastle? The article I read on Sky this morning gave the impression he hadn't even been offered one but they were willing to change their minds if he showed he deserved one but I don't know any more than that about it.

I’m not interested in making money on him. I’m interested if he’ll improve our midfield here and now in a relegation battle. I have my doubts.

I am not saying that is what I would value him at.

I am saying I would be surprised if they sold him for less than £25m, when they quoted £50m for him barely 2 years ago.

And if they are willing to accept even £10m for a 24 year old after a serious knee injury not too long ago, that would be a big worry.

No

Though, I didn't know he had only 5 months left on his contract, if he has refused to sign a new deal that would make sense.
