Seems legit.

I am not saying that is what I would value him at.

I am saying I would be surprised if they sold him for less than £25m, when they quoted £50m for him barely 2 years ago.

And if they are willing to accept even £10m for a 24 year old after a serious knee injury not too long ago, that would be a big worry.

No

Though, I didn't know he had only 5 months left on his contract, if he has refused to sign a new deal that would make sense.
You do realise that Man United never actually made an offer for him do you?
It was media click bait at the time and all it said was sources close to the club blah blah, United considering 50 mill blah blah.

I’m not interested in making money on him. I’m interested if he’ll improve our midfield here and now in a relegation battle. I have my doubts.
I have seen him play and I can't say I would be excited about his signing.

But, I said exactly the same about Demarai Gray.

Making a profit or loss isn't everything but we are in the mess we are in because of losing money on so many players.
Profit and loss on players is of huge importance to Everton FC at the moment.

If signed my hope would be that he could be as big a success as Gray and increase his value exponentially.

Cheers. So we pay them a pittance for him if we want him or they let him go for nothing at the end of the season. With Digne having a number of suiters we must have the upper hand in negotiations. This isn't me saying i want the lad here as I don't know enough about him but it looks like Benitez wants him so he'll probably be a blue by the end of January and if so I'll support him until/if he turns out to be a Rondon (fingers crossed he's not that bad i mean we couldn't buy another one thats that bad could we????)
It’s irrespective if we pay a pittance for him. Like I’ve expressed numerous times I just don’t see how he improves our midfield in a relegation battle. It’s not me being anti Benetiz. Im fine with signing of the full backs with their best years ahead of them.

Wrote this is the other thread, i can see why we're interested him.

Not as sure on that as most seem to be mate, I remember a 6 month stint in 2019, when he looked an excellent player. He then had a horrific injury and I think it’s taken him a while to come back from, Newcastle has been a destabilising environment over the whole time of his return.

Id put him somewhere in the Gray category, of potential but lost. Whatever my feelings on the manager, he knows him better than anyone else.

I went to see Johnny Giles once and they were listing of highly rated midfielders and he said whether he ratted them or not, he gave a few surprising yay or nays, when asked on what guided him, he said he always looked could a player turn on the ball receiving the ball facing his goal, to face the opposing. Longstaff can turn on the ball.

It’s a risk, but I see why we are interested.

Funnily enough I was impressed by Gray whilst at Leicester. My concerns were more to do with his attitude than his ability. Zero complaints so far.

No no no no, and not just because I don’t think he’d be better than Delph and co, but because we’re in so much financial crap, not milking one of our most valuable assets for a nice profit, but choosing to get a guy who had a horrendous injury and will be available for a free in 5 months is symptomatic of our awful business over the years. It’s not even personal against Longstaff, but the overall ‘deal’

Bonkers they're where they are in the league really.

No way that team should be relegated.
Some talented players in that squad. I get that my opinion doesn’t sit well with most on here but all I’m saying is I’m not gonna write a player off without giving him a fair chance. Obviously there’s something seriously wrong at Newcastle for that squad to be underperforming as they are.
Anyway, I’m not spending my whole day on here arguing with the other keyboard managers.. I’m in the middle or watching Phoenix nights box set instead, hopefully spot us a pacey winger on there ??

He's set to become a free agent at the end of the season. I wouldn't even be bidding for him now to be honest.

No better than Tommy D. He's ok but no more than that, won't improve us at all.
I’d say defensively he is better than Davies which is why Benitez wants him, was much better under Benitez and has fallen off since. I’d imagine we are after him due to a small fee being enough to take him and he plugs a gap for now.

Him next to Allan could work with Doucoure being pushed up.

Let’s see, I’m sure this signing won’t excite anyone but hopefully we are pleasantly surprised.
