Transfer Rumour Sean Longstaff

It’s irrespective if we pay a pittance for him. Like I’ve expressed numerous times I just don’t see how he improves our midfield in a relegation battle. It’s not me bring anti Benetiz. Im fine with signing of the full backs with their best years ahead of them.
Like i said i have no idea whether the lads good enough never watched him in any great detail. I know United were quoted £50m a few years back but i don't class that as a great measure of quality to be honest as i reckon it was Newcastle trying to pull a fast one or just frighten United off with a big number. All I'm saying is if he becomes a blue support him until he shows he's unworthy. A lot of people said they couldn't see how gray would improve us but he's consistently been one of our best players now.

I’d say defensively he is better than Davies which is why Benitez wants him, was much better under Benitez and has fallen off since. I’d imagine we are after him due to a small fee being enough to take him and he plugs a gap for now.

Him next to Allan could work with Doucoure being pushed up.

Let’s see, I’m sure this signing won’t excite anyone but hopefully we are easily pleased
There you go, fixed that for you.

Right now, playing at Newcastle Longstaff might not be the player we need.

But, most on here threw their toys out of the pram when we signed Gareth Barry… too old, too slow etc etc.

If Sean Longstaff who most perceive as underwhelming can step up the way his Dad did as an ice hockey player, we might fall lucky again as we did with Barry.

He has an excellent relationship with Benitez and that would probably help.

I’ve seen a few mention his horrendous injury? I presume the knee injury he had?

I must confess any players who’s done an ACL would worry me.

On some brief searching it seems it kept him out for 9 games or 4 months. How bad was it?

Some ACL’s see players miss 12 months.

Anyone know more about it?!

You reckon?

It's a saving face shout.

Otherwise, why would they reject a bid for him?
Sorry I wasn't trying to dispute it i'm just going off the quotes in the article it reads to me like they're saying the opportunity to get a new contract is in his hands and its up to him to take it. If there was a contract offer on the table i'd expect them to do what Everton do and show the fans you've done your bit and if he leaves he's a judas but maybe not all clubs do that. In terms of rejecting a bid though they certainly don't need the money do they so could easily be either they think he'll be useful for the rest of the season or they don't want to strengthen a relegation rival.
