Semi Final Build Up Thread

In my opinion keepers hardly change the course of a game! We should ignore whos in goal and concentrate on what wev been doing affectively lately

I'm not saying that this is going to be the difference but its worth considering using someone who has a shot like drenthe to test jones from the outset cos if he's as nervous as he was last ngiht then he's gonna flap at one of them - even if we dont start drenthe i'd still want us to test jones from the outset with shots and crosses, there's not exactly a downside to trying this.....

Drenthe won't start.

The fact McFadz started over him on Monday said volumes for me.

And to think Moyes will choose his line up based on what keeper they are using is a bit ludicrous.

Drenthe's shots aren't all that, when he did score and ran to Mucha you know why, cos at h/t every week he spends it pinging shots at Jan, for the most part peoples ale in the Gwladys St is under more threat than Muchas goal, yes they are hit with power and when he keeps them down they skid off the turf but many end up way over the bar wide.

how is it ludicrous? i'd say theres not much to choose between drenthe, coleman or gueye starting on saturday in moyes's mind as they all add something different - the point i am putting out there is that with drenthe's obvious advantage of being able to strike the ball better than the other two then it might give him the edge in starting - thats all....

It's ludicrous because Moyes will pick the team that he wants to pick and he won't give 2 sh*ts who Liverpool have and don't have.

I understand your point fully, but I bet you Moyes knew his starting line up before last night even happened.

I can't see Coleman starting at all. Gueye on the left and Osman/Drenthe on the right. Would rather see Osman behind Jelly and Gueye/Drenthe starting but that isn't going to happen b/c I can't see Moyes not starting Cahill.

he'll pick the team he wants but a huge factor in picking that team will be assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition in doing so as you would do for every game - for example its a fine line which of our 3 centre halves doesn't play on saturday but if dalglish came out today and said that carroll starts then its a nailed on certainty that moyes would start Distin based on that information, he'd be Naive not to fully take in the possible starting XI of the opposition before deciding on the team

Thinking along similar lines mate.

It will be Howard, Hibbert/Neville Heitinga, Distin, Baines across the back.
Ossie, Gibbo, Fellaini, Gueye midfield with Cahill ahead of them.

Maybe??!!

Don't see why he deserves to start. He's been good for half a game in the passed month, that doesn't mean he's a cert to turn up if played on Saturday. Gueye's looked good and confident and should be on the left with Ossie or Coleman on the right.

No need for that when we hoof it for 75 minutes.
