Semi Final Build Up Thread

Actually, we seem to be playing very well with Gueye on the left and surprisingly enough Osman on the right, so I would stick with that for the semi-final. As long as Gibson and Fellaini are starting alongside each other in midfield. Drenthe wouldn't be a bad option if we are chasing the game with half an hour left or level in extra time. Any other circumstance however and I don't think Drenthe would be a suitable choice for this game. As Cahill and Jelavic have been peforming well together, I would definitely go with those two up top as well.

It really is all about us on saturday i believe. WE are in the groove. WE are firing on all cylinders. WE have momentum. IF we turn up with the right desire we WILL win. Jelavic is on fire. Fellaini is majestic at the moment. Heitinga is in the form of his life. Cahill looks like his old self again. Baines is, well, Baines.

Its all about us.
WE HAVE A WINNER. THIS IS IT FOLKS.

youre trying my patience today duo lad. distin is the one out of form and you well know it. jonny and jagielka to start so stop with the nonsense

I'm being a tit mate, true, don't take it so hard though, only messing. But how can you say Distin's out of form?

Not that I wouldn't love the duo of Heitinga and Jags, but please do tell and stuff...

We have had to put up with some mighty embarrassments against Liverpool over the years, I feel as though it's time to put things right. All of the games of major importance beyond it just being a derby have been won by that lot, usually helped by meek performances by ourselves. This time we won't let that happen, we will for once show them that this Everton team is actually better than your team and we will shove that no trophy for 17 years chant back down your throats, and make you regret singing "10 more years" sarcastically. I will enjoy Saturday.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break of the game, every minute, every second. On this team, we fight for that inch. On this team, we tear ourselves, and everyone around us, to pieces, for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches, that's gonna make the FUKN difference between winning and losing. Between living and dying. I'll tell you this...in any fight it's the guy who's willing to die who's gonna win that inch. And I know if I'm gonna have any life anymore it's because I'm still willing to fight and die for that inch. Because that's what living is. The six inches in front of your face. Now I can't make you do it. You gotta look at the guy next to you. Look into his eyes. Now I think you're gonna see a guy who will go that inch with you. You're gonna see a guy who will sacrifice himself for this team. Because he knows that when it comes down to it, you're gonna do the same for him. That's a team, gentleman. And either we heal...NOW...as a team. Or we will die as individuals. That's football guys. That's all it is. Now...WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO?"

Please tell me am too old to be feeling like this ?
Confident one minute paranoid the next, roll on Saturday then I'll know which one of my personality disorders i should trust.

you`re probly right about distin. its just the norwich game is still in my mind. jagielka looks to be getting up to speed is what i`m getting at and distin has made his once-in-a-season mistake. all in all its good to have competition. like me and you vying for the `being a tit` position................ you aint got a hope (y)

I sniff my tickets sometimes, like they're new shoes, i've had them for nearly two weeks now as well, does anyone else indulge in such strange behaviour regarding their semi-final tickets?

I see it when put like that, mate. Spot on, but I just think Jags shouldn't be guaranteed a start in the semi based on 2 good games. Imo still a liability at times.

I reckon Nik has us both beat there...

all our centre backs have had a wobble here and there. i`m fickle and easily forget the monster that distin has been for us. its nice that jagger is on his way back though. but touche.......... you win...... jonny and silvio it is then. p.s. Nik is too thin skinned and his tittishness only works on one level

I don't see how. We were on a good run of form, they were on a poor run of form. They ****ted us. We hardly had a shot on goal.

Yeah we will have a better team out but I don't think it will come down to who's in goal. I think it will be who plays with the more desire, who chases down every ball. We need to do to them what they did to us in the last derby.

I am very nervous at all the confidence going into this game. We all know that they have a sign over us. We need to respect them as they are still a decent team with players who can hurt us. And even if they weren't, the derby is still the derby. Form goes out of the window. If we turn up, we can beat them as I believe that at this current moment in time, we have a better side (although they have money and will no doubt make some decent buys in the summer). That's all I can say atm. Am I supremely confident we will turn up? Definatly not. Everton scare the **** out of me.

No FFS, that is the last thing we need to do.

You misunderstand me. I'm not saying we should be in awe of them. But to go in to it with a blase attitude would be a massive mistake. It's still Liverpool and it's still going to be a tough game. If we don't give teams the respect they deserve then that's how you lose. There's a difference between giving a team a team respect, and giving them too much respect and being intimidated.

Jags starting would be a big no-no for me. Sunderland didn't really test our defence and Norwich did and it was poor. He played in the 3-0 drubbing against Liverpool. He played in the start of the season when we looked solid'ish in the back but still managed to concede each game. I can't pinpoint him for any of the goals but it would seem his general movement and communication isn't good enough for our first XI at the moment and with six, seven games to go I'd only start him when health concerns for others are in play.
