One myth I'd like to quash is that Liverpool always turn it on in the Cup games. This is probably based on knocking out Chelsea, City and united from both cup competitions.

Chelsea's team contained Turnbull. Boswinga, Alex, Luiz, Romeu (was it here i read some Chelsea fan saying he was better than Fellaini!?!) McEachran, Lukaku and an out of form Torres.
Essentially their reserve side.

City were missing KOmpany, Aguero, the toures and they needed the refs help. One of the ones who's not part of the conspiracy.

United also had a reserve team out. Missing Ferdinand, Nani, Vidic, Jones, Anderson, Young etc.

Liverpool struggled to beat Stoke and needed penalties to beat Cardiff. They're not a good side.

We'll going to **** them. Everyone be calm.

Good points. They also got beaten by Northampton at home 2 years ago and obviously we drew with them then beat them in 09.

I think us senior Blues are entitled to a bit of bravado & hope after all that's gone before.

It's worth remembering that firstly Liverpool were clearly the better side on the vast majority of these big occasions in the past - things have changed a lot since then so, with a fair wind Everton have EVERY CHANCE OF WINNING ON SATURDAY. We need to be on our game as I really think they are on the verge of being given a big lesson by Everton - Moyes has the team totally focussed on this one - I really can't think the same can be said for them so this REALLY is our ONE AND ONLY chance to win a big 'un & give them a lot of pain - this could be a real life changer for our team & with any good luck give them a f**king good kick in the bollocks - something they really deserve after all the **** that they have been handing out this season in various guises. I want them to feel some pain, some real pain from their most hated rivals. Not only do we deserve our moment in the sun but, let's be fair, they've had a lot going for them in the past - but this time round, from a manager on the edge, players totally out of synch, half-fit starters, important members of their set-up being dismissed it's impossible not to form the opinion that, in the light of all that, plus the way we've been playing lately that we really can give them a lesson.

If - BIG IF - Everton play their match but not the 'Derby factor' we will win - I am sure. I am also confident that this time we ARE going to "play the match" not the occasion/opposition. This time they are not going to get a huge lift from a referee - it just is not going to happen.

The reason for this confidence is that I have seen Everton at this juncture before - when the chance has been there to be seized. I see this as another chance to regain that (often short lived) glory that we occasionally manage. This is so like 1968-1970, 1984-1987, 1994-6 under Royle & just occasionally under Moyes. This is what we do - we rise briefly to the occasion to become a "winning side". I know this is coming Saturday - let's do it - let's enjoy that brief moment in the sun however long it may last before someone "steals" Nikica or Moyes or another terrible misfortune befalls us.

Cheers Dan. This post, more than anything else, has calmed my nerves. You're dead right. After believing totally that our name's on the cup and that we'd smash the rs, I started to have doubts these last few days. Doubts born of the trauma us senior blues all suffer from. You've put my mind back on the true path of confidence because a door has opened for us. We will push on through to become, as you say, a winning side. Get into them blues.

Nice one, Dan. This post calmed me a bit too. I will probably still not sleep in the next 36 hours however.

Coach travel required.

Me and our kid have managed to get tickets for the match, but got no transport......anyone know if there are two seats available and going from the Bootle/Litherland area?

Come on lads, time to exorcise those demons from '86 and '89!!!
I was supposed to work tomorrow and all of a sudden I was told I'm not working this weekend so will get to watch the game...I think it's a sign:yahoo:

Just under 18 hrs till I get the train from Crewe. In 20 hrs I will be sampling the expensive beer that London has to offer, in just over 24 hrs I will be a dribbling mess in floods of tears as the players enter the pitch, not that I am counting or anything.....

Jesus, today is dragging.
