I remember stopping for a pint in otterspool and every one was crowded round the Tv and just as my wife sat down the second plane arrived ,Cant imagine the terror those poor people faced watching the plane coming straight at them I always remember this [Poor language removed] in the pub remark its better than watching a movie! I had to sit down or I would have hit him some people are beneath contempt

I don't think a lot of those in the tower actually knew the 2nd plane was coming at them.

However, those in the plane had to have seen the towers as it banked hard left.

I can't even imagine.

I had to stop and check the date at work today because i thought it was September 11th but i hadn't seen or heard any mention of 9/11 , but then something came on Radio 2 about it.
Hard to believe it is 7 years since it happened. I remember at the time people were talking about how it was gonna be the start of WW3 and we were all gonna die in a nuclear war and all that.
Luckily we didn't, although i certainly believed at the time that things were gonna get a lot worse but they haven't.

Was at work, when it was announced an airplane had crashed in the US. Couldn't hear all they said, but about one minute later all radioshows stopped and there were special news bulletins. Walked to the office and looked at the television. Shocking footage was shown on CNN and everyone was just staring in disbelief at the screen. Very, very sad day that should never be forgotten.:(:(

i got a phone call while at work telling me what was happening. i thought it was a joke and was waiting for the punchline (yes ive got some sad mates)

thoughts with all those who lost friends and family

I was out on site in Sandbach with some colleagues and everyone's mobiles started going off together. I didnt have mine with me and thought it odd that 4 phones went off almost at the same time. I could hear everyone saying things like 'oh my god' and such like - I thought someone had been taken ill or died at the office but no, it was so, so much worse.
We drove back in silence listening to the radio.
A terrible ordeal for all of those people involved.
RIP

September 11th will no longer be known as 9/11. It has officially been renamed Patriot Day.

From Patriot Day, 2008

George W. Bush said:
By a joint resolution approved December 18, 2001 (Public Law 107-89), the Congress has designated September 11 of each year as "Patriot Day."
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim September 11, 2008, as Patriot Day. I call upon the Governors of the United States and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, as well as appropriate officials of all units of government, to direct that the flag be flown at half-staff on Patriot Day. I also call upon the people of the United States to observe Patriot Day with appropriate ceremonies, activities, and remembrance services, to display the flag at half-staff from their homes on that day, and to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. eastern daylight time to honor the innocent Americans and people from around the world who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this eighth day of September, in the year of our Lord two thousand eight, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-third.
GEORGE W. BUSH
