Serious Question

My reply would be the manager is p!ss poor for the job he was brought in to do. He's been a remarkable spokesperson for the club during some bad times both on, and off the pitch, but as a manager he's atrocious. He hasn't moved us on Saturday confirmed this. The football, the players he brings in, the same end result - same as Luton at the start of last season and the many games that followed. He's a dinosaur of a manager he's really not what we need to take Everton forward.

I really don't think he get's Everton. I don't think he realises this is Everton, not Burnley. We might not be the top club we used to be but we need more than this from our manager.

Mate we can say 'This is Everton' all we want but the club are still looking for investors to pay the wages to keep the lights on at the moment. 'this is Everton' doesn't make the players better.

48 pts last season, and as I said, home form improved and we won some important away games with a derby win thrown in. If that's piss poor what did you expect with a season of 2 pts deductions? 55-60 pts? Europe?

Ah mate i'm not interested in debating or arguing with you. The forum thread was posted asked a serious question I answered it with my opinion, you have yours.
We seem to be from different view points. Last season we ended with improvement but that was only after a horrendous run. Dyche hasn't improved us in the summer he's gone backwards in my opinion. We seem to be doing the same things as last season, chances, can't put the ball in the back of the net, concede and lose. The buck stops with the manager.

The same thing as last season got us better points than the last two tho, and you did say that Dyche isn't doing what he's was hired to do. So I was just curious what that was when you've just said there was improvement, and pts amounted also shows improvement.

I think if we sack Dyche and hire someone who the fans find more attractive, when the bad run comes, we will go back to blaming this squad like we (and Lampard) did under Lampard.

Had a season ticket for over 20 years now. Saturday was the least bothered i've been about an opening game. For me it's a combination of the lack of hope as an Evertonian along with how predictable English Football has got. Part of me wants Man City to win every trophy going for the next few years so that a change is made across the game to even things up. But I doubt it will ever happen and it would only be done for the favoured few to help the Arsenals and Man Uniteds win things again, not the Evertons and Wolves of the League.

As for becoming passive. There is nothing we can do except help towards pushing them over the line in relegation battles. Seems to be the only impact the fans can have in forcing results.

I think most matchgoing fans are like slaves to the game. In the frustrating moments I think of giving it up but I know it means too much in my life and I just couldn't do it.

The issue is the ownership not having a football brain. Hiring Lampard was beyond madness. Under-acheived at Derby and then Chelsea. Just about scraped to safety even after 3 months and was even worse after that. No Plan B. Much as people don't like Michael Keane, Lampard treated him unforgivably & dare I say the public school prat was coming out in him. Dyche is actually a manager not an ex player pretending to be one. Treated Keane a lot better and Dele now. Every current player's improved under him. The ones that didn't (Iwobi and Gray) were sold. He gets results as well. Not saying he's immune to criticism, subs are bonkers and I'm not going to pretend I wasn't fuming after Chelsea. But him and Thelwell are building a good side and this window is looking good so far.

And we beat the RS 😄

The last season at Goodison. The last opener at Goodison and everyone it seems, well almost, was expecting "beautiful football".

I usually watch the replay the following morning after the match not knowing the result, but I woke up at nearly half time and saw that we were 0 - 1 down.
In the hope that we'd come back I checked the score when I got up. At that moment I felt that we would finally run out of our time in the top league.

I didn't watch the replay until Monday morning, and even then only watched the first half, having read most of the match thread here.

One of you talked about the 4 - 0 thumping at Villa last season which brought back some hope for the rest of the season.

Mind you, bringing on a defender when you're 0 - 2 down with minutes to play, and Holgate at that, is painful and doesn't inspire hope.

I've supported Everton for over 70 years, and while I understand the OP's question, I can't stop.
