Thanks for the patience with the server errors on match days for the past month.

There's been a few more config changes - I'd appreciate if you could report any specific server error messages or server issues in this thread for the server technicians. The comments/screenshots you've all shared have been used by server folk to work to resolve the issue.

If we get any more errors, it'll likely be Saturday so can you please reply with any screenshots/comments if you get any?

We have a brilliant hosting company.
We're on a very good dedicated server that can handle 10x the traffic we see at our busiest period.
It's not a case of 'putting another 50p in the meter' - for those who have kindly shared their insights to help troubleshoot, the last update is;

As the problem started when we did the Ubuntu upgrade I’m certain that a limit or setting we had set before has been overwritten however as the above is a fairly generic Apache error it doesn’t tell us exactly what limit is being hit. I’ve made a couple of changes for you this morning, firstly I’ve increased the global Apache timeout from 300 seconds to 600 seconds. I’ve also increased the MaxKeepAlive setting from 100 to 500. I’ll keep an eye on the logs for you but we may need the site to get busy again for us to see if the changes have worked.

Lets see how we go.

Thanks again for the patience.

Our server techs are working to resolve - the last update as of this morning;

I’ve taken another look for you this morning and I’m not seeing any further “Error Dispatching Requests” errors in the Apache error log now so I think that Apache is happy on here. However digging into the Nginx error log, I can see a number of errors relating to the Nginx open files limit being hit. I’m fairly certain this is the root cause of the 500 internal server errors and would line up with why we are only seeing this when the site is busy. I’ve therefore gone ahead and increased the open files limit in Nginx for you on the server so hopefully that makes a difference.

We've also been in our server since 2017. I've no clue on the longevity of servers but I've also asked for some replacement server options. I guess we'll have to do that if the issue isn't solved soon.

I'm getting the privacy thingy pop up every time I refresh no matter how I save and close it. Is this to do with the server issues?

It could be my browser but I thought I would ask nonetheless before I change browsers.

Hi Steve

This isn't a problem with the server, this is because you have adblock enabled and in doing so, you're inadvertently preventing the forum/site/script from remembering the choice.

After Spurs, I'm pretty confident this is now resolved.

To the techies who offered opinion, the fix was to increase the open files limit in Nginx

Thanks for the response. That makes sense. Sorry I've been trying to allow this site through. Defo not doing it on purpose.

I've been working on trying to allow ad through my blocker on this phone.

It's all work related but I'm in charge so should be able to do it. The company decided on a crappy app though so allowing individual phones isn't straightforward.

Thanks again.
