this is from rule 12 (backpass rule)

An indirect free kick is awarded to the opposing team if a goalkeeper, inside his own penalty area, commits any of the following four offences:

takes more than six seconds while controlling the ball with his hands before releasing it from his possession

touches the ball again with his hands after it has been released from his possession and has not touched any other player

touches the ball with his hands after it has been deliberately kicked to him by a team-mate

touches the ball with his hands after he has received it directly from a throw-in taken by a team-mate

reading that... this particular situation is not covered.

so jury still out. i'm sure i've seen that happen in matches without a free kick..

I cannot believe what i have just read through?! Do any of you guys actually play footie or just arm chair fans?!!?

It is without a shadow of a doubt a back pass. If our keeper did that in my side he would have got the rollicking of his life.

That covers it right there teppic.

ah.. but being technical... he touched it with his foot after it was passed back to him.

still.. i go with basil's post.

mick nick... where is the aggression coming from? it was a good question that obviously had welts and his mates in discussion, and here too.

No agression just very surprised that it even caused debate. I thought Evertonians were the most knowledgeable fans in the world...

lol reminds me of that thread about how much time you add on for injury and you thought it should be the length of the injury... not in relation to the amout of time in a half!

see above! lol

I am the person of main contention in this. I have seen Lincoln do it loads of times, so I have come to the conclusion that we are a bunch of [Poor language removed] cheats. :P

a backpass without a doubt, doesnt matter if he 1st controls it with his foot or not, now if the defender had flicked it up and headed it back .....that would be ok. by the sounds of it your teammates wouldve all ended up getting booked for contesting the decision as well. unless of course the keeper was outside his area, then it would be handball. are your teammates fans of the sky 4 cos of course they play different rules.

Lincoln fan, says it all doesn't it......

Simon, Mick to the nick plays football in an actual team, he knows what he is on about :P And is probably better than Mark Stallard, although that doesn't take much

Like I said, I was 100% sure I was right until getting chastised by all and sundry, still, I don't know why I was so bothered with them getting away with it, the pair of muppets were on my team
