wait so what's the rule for injuries? how much time is supposed to be added on, that seems like a much better discussion since this seems a no-brainer to me as well.
being raised on american sports i'm used to clock stoppages, so it did seem a bit silly at first that rather than calculating exactly how much time was used by the stoppage, you would keep the clock running and make a rough estimate at the end, though i do like how the rule means the sport doesn't lend itself to commercials.
don't need the whole discussion but what was the verdict? do you add on based on how long the injury was or what?

Glad I could get into this thread just in time to weigh in but that's a backpass.
On a separate note, I was playing in a match as a defender and an attacker drove in a hard cross from the wing as we were all retreating back (facing) toward our goal.
I stuck my foot/leg out to try and keep the ball from reaching it's intended target as it was a low drive.
I inadvertently hit a laser directly at my goalkeeper who was about 10 yards from me and fortunately standing right in the way of it.
He caught it and began to throw the ball to one of our players when the whistle blew. The ref CALLED IT A BACKPASS !!!
Everyone on our team was screaming at the ref and the other team just couldn't stop laughing. Luckly nothing came of the free kick as we put all eleven in front of the goal.
