Was there during the Africa tour, that was 8 yrs ago. If you stay anywhere else than all inclusive, I strongly suggest hiring a car. Lovely beaches everywhere and you'll get up the mountain more easily. Effing expensive place & Takamaka rum is not worth it.

Was going to go for our honeymoon, had a stack of cash and went into the travel agent to book it for Christmas only to be told that this is during the rainy season over there. So we went to Orlando for Christmas and New years followed by a week in Dallas. Always wanted to visit the Seychelles.. placed on the long finger now until the children have left the nest.

Anyone been (apart from man-about-Earth @chicoazul ?)

Been considering but it's an absolute hell of a flight from here. Lauren wants to snorkel (we can go to the Keys/Puerto Rico for that!), I want to bike the islands and generally get the hell away as far as far as possible/drown in mixed cocktails on the beach. 2 weeks enough? (never enough time, obvs).

Gimme your skinny. I know you lot get there quite often due to the relative travel time, compared to us in Yankville, so I'm going to the source. Enlighten this redneck, please.

Yeah ... had our honeymoon there in 1984.

Was expensive then so prepare for "no vaseline" now.

As others have said, it can get boring after 8-10 days. Rented a Mini Moke but managed to drive all the roads of the main island in one day so that was beans.
Rains on the dot at 2pm for an hour or so.
Sea fishing is good (but expensive)
Birds, including boobies, are excellent as are the giant tortoises but you have to pay to get to the island with them on and the boat ride can be rough.

Personally, I would go somewhere else. I would have suggested the Red Sea for snorkelling but perhaps not at this time!

Goa? Mombasa & combine with a bit of safari?

All suggestions noted...thx folks. We were both just enamored with the beaches there. I grew up here in Arizona, her in Michigan so I've been landlocked and had Cali beaches up to my eyeballs over the years and her idea of the beach is what you get at Lake Michigan or Huron, not exactly like-for-like there compared to the tropic/warm waters. Thanks for the advice, it's why I asked. I thought we'd get a bit restless too, seeing how the place is geographically (small, hard to get around.)

Saves me the hellish flight, too...was dreading the possibility. Would need 48 hours just to tackle the jet lag. (26-35+ hours flight time from here I believe, with multiple layovers 🤮)

Onwards...I'll die before I entertain thoughts of a cruise, though.

Imagine revealing your birds name on here, you've seen the investigative work done in the transfer thread, she'll have been located and snatched in a matter of minutes. Enjoy the solo holiday.

She's logged in under me off and on for years now, mainly posting in the music thread, she knows the scoop. Her name's fine to post...our flight #? Hell no. 🤫

Agree with this...if you can manage a longer stretch off work, I would try to expand your trip to other places beyond Seychelles. There are some amazing resorts in northern Madagascar (never been though, just what I hear). Mauritius is also nice.
Got a good amount of vac time; actually getting it off? 🤣 'Merica.

Retirement date is Oct of 2030...if things stay as they are, I'll be able to bump it to July on vacation time alone. I'm not really proud of that fact.

Any reason you're not thinking about the Caribbean? Much easier from where you are.
