If you'd asked me about Keane 10 games ago and I'd have had my head in my hands. But whatever has happened since he now looks undroppable in the heart of that defence. Winning everything in the air. Organising the back 4. Just plain solid.
In this system yes,but if we start playing further up the pitch his usual issues will reappear.

If we get a point it'll be a bonus, if we get a win it'll be a miracle
Vaults self

Just shows what I know, just when you think these Walton Wanderers, those County Rd Casuals, can't get any worse they do this to us.
The first half was poor is true, but one tv guy said after an hour - where have Everton been hiding all this football?
Answer; In their bottlers shell??

Ancelotti did a rock, paper, scissors on Wilder/Wilding/whoever - blunted those blades then wrapped them up.
He put roundish pegs in roundish holes...Siggi as a No.10 - who thought that was a goer eh.
I dont think ADHD boy had a serious save to make and with a bit of luck we could easily of had 3, 4, maybe even 5.

They say It's the hope that kills you - but I'll take that for now over dross

....most posters disgruntled at the team announcement, yet the abandonment of 4-4-2 suited this group of players much more. Square pegs, round holes. Sigurdsson more effective in a no10 role, Gomes and Davies looking far less exposed with him in front and the team better balanced with Richarlison and Walcott in wide positions.

i’m very surprised Ancelotti has not gone for this before but I’d be surprised if he doesn’t stay with it for the last game.

Difficult side to beat are Sheffield United, so that was a good win and I think City are the only team to do the double over us this season which is a positive.
Agreed.
Although the names were the same the formation was very different. Probably more than anything it shows that most players need to be in their best position, comfort zone, to get the best out of them.
It was the best game Sigurdsson had all season I thought … that is not saying that he should be there next season however.
I thought Gomes was very poor in the first half but got better and better as the game progressed.
I thought DCL gave the defenders a torrid time but I think Richarlison still goes to ground too easily, is not playing particularly well, and I think referees just don't believe him when he is fouled anymore,.
I thought Walcott with his pace was effective and he works very hard but for such an experienced player he is not a clever player.
Michael Keane continues to show that he is a confidence player... when he is confident he is very good.
I thought Tom Davies did very well, but still at times picks the wrong option by trying to go past players at the wrong time, a player I think more appreciated by managers than fans.

It shows as well how CA and his management team are constantly tinkering with formations to get the best result.

We were brilliant defensively yesterday, I doubt there have been many other teams that have stopped Sheffield United having a shot on target all game. Great header by Richarlison although he didn't play too well, but I guess worth a place in the starting 11 because he can do that. Like others have said I though Davies had a good game and I have bee a bit critical of him recently, Sigurdson was better than he has been for a while, I actually thought Gomes was very good he seemed to control the tempo of the game in the second half.

I know nobody is allowed to say anything nice about him anymore (justifiably for the most part) but that free kick off Siggs for Richy’s goal was absolutely perfect.
Siggs is still excellent for set-pieces but in all honesty that's not enough. Digne can take more of them when he goes,.

I was another Gomes voter. I've been thinking that he's looked really uncomfortable in his movements in recent weeks but yesterday he looked as if all his parts had been cleaned and lubed and he purred through the game.

He looked so much more mobile than he ever has done for us.

Think i saw him make two sprints in the first half and he actually looked quick!

Fair play to Carlo for throwing the CMs a bone in 4-2-3-1, Gomes was bought to play in a midfield 3 and Sigurdsson was bought to play as a 10.

4-4-2 has suited DCL and Richy but it was clear as day teams had clocked us and were exposing the big holes our poor CMs can leave in a CM pairing.

1. Our manager can change tactics.
2. We beat a side higher than us in the table, at their place.
3. We played with intensity in the second half.
4. The kids look good.

I'll take it, obvious flaws in the side notwithstanding.
