....most posters disgruntled at the team announcement, yet the abandonment of 4-4-2 suited this group of players much more. Square pegs, round holes. Sigurdsson more effective in a no10 role, Gomes and Davies looking far less exposed with him in front and the team better balanced with Richarlison and Walcott in wide positions.
i’m very surprised Ancelotti has not gone for this before but I’d be surprised if he doesn’t stay with it for the last game.
Difficult side to beat are Sheffield United, so that was a good win and I think City are the only team to do the double over us this season which is a positive.
Agreed.
Although the names were the same the formation was very different. Probably more than anything it shows that most players need to be in their best position, comfort zone, to get the best out of them.
It was the best game Sigurdsson had all season I thought … that is not saying that he should be there next season however.
I thought Gomes was very poor in the first half but got better and better as the game progressed.
I thought DCL gave the defenders a torrid time but I think Richarlison still goes to ground too easily, is not playing particularly well, and I think referees just don't believe him when he is fouled anymore,.
I thought Walcott with his pace was effective and he works very hard but for such an experienced player he is not a clever player.
Michael Keane continues to show that he is a confidence player... when he is confident he is very good.
I thought Tom Davies did very well, but still at times picks the wrong option by trying to go past players at the wrong time, a player I think more appreciated by managers than fans.
It shows as well how CA and his management team are constantly tinkering with formations to get the best result.
