Increasingly convinced a midfield trio of Onana (holding), McNeill and Garner could be the way to improve our midfield. Yes Doucs chips in with goals and both Garner and McNeill have primarily been used wide but we have some other options there now - especially when Harrison is fit. Full backs still a concern. Is consider Patterson at right wing back with Coleman joining Tarks and Branthwaite in a back 3. Where do we see the forward line if/when everyone is available? Beto and DCL together with Ali/Harrison/Danjuma/Doucs in a 10 if we play with wrong backs. Or Beto/DCL as spearhead with Danjuma and Harrison as wide forwards? Either way possession. in CM needs to be better and that will only happen when we drop Gana.

Words that I don't think I have ever heard before - "Everton are a big side" lol; we are almost always a small side full of small players. Let's hope we can make use with better deliveries.

We should have won and could have lost.

Need to put the ball in the net when on top. We should be 2-1 up and go behind.

The one thing you cannot do is lose a 6 pointer away so that's the only positive

Thats the weird thing. Dyche keeps playing Gana instead of Garner. Uses Onana CM with no particular strategy it seems.

Its frustrating.

A top manager would take him and Branthwaite and turn them into superstars.
Hopefully with Dwight back Garner will go into the centre.

The thing with Onana-Garner partnership is its too underdeveloped.
I'd give the 6 to one or the other, with Gana playing a defensive chaser, with the other license to be more attacking while still maintaining cover and balance between the three.
So its either Onana or Garner sitting not Gana. Preferably Onana at 6.

Hopefully by the end of the season its just Onana-Garner and a proper attacking player is put in front of them at 10.
Ideally you'd then buy a class 6 and can play Onana and Garner in front in an inverted triangle.
Would have options to properly game manage.

4 midfielders needed to turn this team and club around. 2 I reckon we already have.

But they did!
Well no they actually didn't if you watched they went to take piss moving forward but then moved back. I'm not defending the ref by the way because I think he and his assistants both on the line and on the var were absolutely awful but let's at least be accurate about our moans about em. Like why was the Sheffield defender not sent off when he pulled back danjuma? on the edge of the box when if he hadn't he would have had a clear goal scoring opportunity. There were countless other things in the match where the officials didn't cover themselves in glory but I'm just getting used to this kind of level of refereeing now and don't expect anything more.

The midfield need an overhaul. Gana is past it but no one else can do his job. The Doncaster game proved it. No idea where Onana plays and what his job is meant to be.
Garner is not a right winger and has been poor when played in the middle but us technically the best of those in midfield.

The fact that Dyche wasn’t linked with a midfielder shows he must be happy with what we have. That’s the worrying bit.

Mixed performance, some good things, quite a few bad things. One thing looks certain - Sheff Utd are going straight back down so even though we were away it's two points dropped for me.
