Can't get my head around it
Well there's no preset price per room/bed anywhere, so it's just pick and choose, this is the issue for me. But if you wanna enforce that - how do you do it so that you don't obliterate small hotels' business?

I've worked in a very central hotel in Glasgow and have regulated the prices, it's just based on attendance/events - you wanna bring more business in, think of it like in a bar if you do a bonus shot or something along with a drink, it'll bring people in, same stuff.

Then again some hotels do absolutely abuse it and put prices up tenfold on events - one I worked at didn't, we even did discounts for some stuff, as it's just a human thing to do ffs

It also brings good reviews / publicity and repeat business. Which in turn bumps up your ratings on the likes of Tripadvisor and Booking.com, which leads onto more business too, as you`re top of their pages when people do search.

I do a lot of overnighters with my running and I never ever stay anywhere that price gouges, as it tells you everything that you need to know about how they value their customers.

We used to lower prices when the hotel had empty rooms, even if you reserved it late/same day - empty rooms are bad for business, not price gouging, and I'm glad my boss agreed I suppose.

No not the kick in the goolies from the Premier League today.

Just got my auto renewal quote car insurance

Now I'm not going to go into what car or level of cover , but it's gone up from £528 to £855.
My circumstances have not changed , no claims for over 30+ years , no convictions.

My daughter said the other day her insurance has jumped up , tbh I never really paid attention.

Obviously I'm going to find an alternative cheaper quote , but this is absolutely ridiculous for someone that has been with this company for over 10 years .

Nothing much in life shocks me now , but this certainly has. So just wait for yours to drop its tough to take.
Tried LV mate ?

On top of the issues already stated we are also seeing the outworkings of the FCA rules that ensured existing policy holders would be offered the same deals as new customers. Seems from then providers increased costs all round.

Insurance is one of the worst products created. Pay money incase something happens. Sounds great until you have to make a claim and its a constant fight, they try to used their small print T&C's to pay out as little as possible and then in the event of a claim your are punished when you need to renew.

Throw in the poverty premium often attached when you don't live in an affluent area and you pay more for the same product than others in your city.

Its a broken market that needs challenged.

As well as the excess fee when you make a claim

The word excess really sums it up.
Mind you I got one over Allianz a few years ago when I wrote my car off when I hit a cow. I'd bought a runout model D22 Navara in 2014 for 27k and had new for old replacement for 3 years, had about 4 months left of that 3 years when it happened and when I picked up the new one asked the dealership what I would be paying if I was simply buying it and he said around 52. They tried to jack my insurance up to 5k from about $800 the next year so I promptly found another provider lol

On a slight tangent but still insurance related but would self drive cars see the end of the insurance industry?

If you never drove, you couldn't be at fault so why insure.

Hope the missus was ok afterwards.
