Lived away from Liverpool a fair few times over my life - and do currently, but tell you what whenever i went home and saw the Liver Buildings - i never once thought of the rs, if i see pictures of them people have stuck up on facebook etc, never once think of those lot across the park, for me they are the symbol of the city and yeah i get an emotional feeling whenever i see them, for me thats why i'd love the club to use them, they are the one symbol that as a scouser reminds me of home more than any other

May sound very RAWK'ish a post, but reckon i'm not the only one whose from Liverpool and lives away who has that feeling about them...

Further to my "nonsense" comment about the rs owning Liver bird copyright the other day....It seems they do....at least according to European law ................Thank God for Brexit !.........:pint2:
They own their own particular likeness of the animal.

They do not own the rights to the "actual" Liver bird or its image. We could use our own, as the city council do.

We actually used it first - blue Liver birds are on our first league winners medals.

The RS have even managed to convince some Blues that it is THEIR emblem and not a city one.

First club in the city:
First on our crest:
Time to take it back:

I couldn't care less what they say or think....about time more did.

What did Shambolic FC use before the Liver Building and Liver Birds were more symbolic of the city (i.e. at the time we were using it)?

I'm not that bothered about their use of it - more bothered of the mirroring of that by the LFC Echo with their RED Liver Bird. If that so-called newspaper wanted to be seen as a serious proper example of journalism their bird would not be red.

Of course we should talk in terms of it being Liver Bird S>>t

They originally used the crest of the city mate, until the 60s when they where told to desist, they'd been using it without permission, and after being ordered not to keep using it applied for permisssion and got refused, then switched to using the bird alone.

Outside of Merseyside I don't think it has any significance. The rest of Britain probably knows about the Liver buildings/Liver birds, but not to the point where I ever heard a mention of connection with their badge. Not like Utd's Arsenal's or Leicester's badge where fans refer to them as the red devils, the gunners and the Foxes.
Fans in Spain even know Utd's nickname. Knowbody here that I've met knows anything about the Liver Bird.

It would be fun to see them frothing at the mouth but apart from that I can't see any benefit.
