He's doing a Lampard on us now though isn't he? Yes it's some of the worst we've ever performed, but you see something something stability, something something difficult fixtures coming thick and fast, something something still a work in progress, oh yes, vote of confidence you know, don't change horses in mid stream, oh don't you forget that we were so much worse off with that previous bloke, steady as she goes yes, nothing good will come from firing him will it, crucial time to keep this club ran smoothly with a sure hand gaaahhh it makes me sick

Until there's a transfer budget and a (decent) replacement lined up then there is absolutely no point. Nobody is making a silk purse out of that sows ear of a squad.
This.

I’d still be binning him the second TFG have the reins and can actually bring a few players in to help us play positively. Right now I can’t see how anyone would get this lot playing anything resembling football.

Surely this is the reason he should be more aggressive in his teams attacking intent.

If someone replaces him and does well with the team it’s going to highlight his shortcomings as a manager which will make it difficult for him to get his next job. Surely if you’re on your way out you go out swinging (in a controlled way)

The football is unbelievable dull to watch, but designed to keep you in the PL at the expense of fun. Once the results go out the window, the defending goes to pot, then you have to sack him. You owe it to the fans paying their money to watch this muck.
I think we've often started games quite well. Pressing, moving quick and even knocking the ball about but at some point in any passing move the ball inevitably falls at the feet of Gana Gueye, Doucore or McNeill and the jig is very quickly up.

Rinse and repeat until inevitably the opposition score and the whole thing collapses like a deck of cards. I'm all for a new manager but without investment it's utterly futile - this is a dreadful squad of players we have at the moment. There's not one of them you can confidently say walks into most PL teams - Pickford and Branthwaite included.

The meat has been cut to the bone one too many times.

Many, many managers would’ve scored a goal in the last 4 games with exactly the same players available to them tbh.

I’m absolutely sick of this “we can’t get anyone better, no one can do anything with these players” tripe. I hear it every single time we come to sack a failing manager. It’s boring and wrong.

It’s a dreadful squad but a different manager would score more goals at least, by actually allowing players to get ahead of the ball. We might concede more too, but we can’t continue with the status quo.

Why doesn’t the manager just stop picking those players then?

Astonishing easy ride he's being given by some.

Yes, these players aren't world beaters... but they capable of scoring a goal in a month of football.

All he bangs on about is defensive shape. No wonder the players are reluctant to break the lines moving forward (not that they’d do it particularly great) - he’s terrified if we’re caught out of position.

It’s like a boxer trying to cover up and barely throw a jab for twelve rounds on the basis they’ll get punched. It just doesn’t work

If i was the players i would ignore his instructions, he is making them all look like a cnut

The worst part is that we had a bit of a go early on - and he'll take all the wrong lessons from that with us losing so badly.

Expect 100% defensive, absolute and total misery on Wednesday night. 0-0 the aim.

Me too. The difficulty with that though is it has to be a coup de grace as if only one person does it - it won’t work and poses more risk to the team
