Don't remember where I read it, but I did read a few weeks ago he was offered 10m to spend. So I think that's the number if he wants to use it now.

Yeah for arguments sake I used 10 mil but I'm more inclined to think its closer to 6-8 mil. Someone put the figures up before but the Barry and lukaku loans were a decent amount of money

Him and McCarthy were are main CM targets this summer, we agreed a fee and got a work permit but couldn't sell Felli sooner and Porto pulled the plug on the deal, or asked for more money in the end, I cant remember exactly what I was told, so ended up pushing through a loan deal for Barry, which didn't turn out too bad did it!.
But Fernando is quality, 26, 27 years old, DM'r but very classy on the ball. Remember seeing a Europa league game between Porto and City at the Etihad 2/3 years ago and he dominated Yaya Toure that night and that got me hooked. Seen Porto 2 or 3 other times in CL and things and he's always played well. He gets stuck in but not by flying in with slide tackles, but can put a foot in, nick the ball and then as a great eye for a pass to get the team moving.
Would love it if Martinez still wanted him and went in for him either this month or in the summer for free.

Left over from transfers in the summer, that wont be far off the figure he'll have to spend. But I read not so long ago, someone was speaking at a function with members of our scouting network and they said that Martinez would prefer to save what funds he's got this month and put it towards is kitty for the summer and do his main recruiting then. Also said a winger/wingers were high on his agenda.
But I wouldn't be surprised to see deals for youngsters abroad on loan, or cheap deals for players who's deals are running out or have run out, and give em till the end of the season to prove themselves, the likes of McGeady and Bibras Natkho, them kind of players?!

That's exactly what the article said. He'd been offered 10m but doesn't want to use it in Jan. Will probably see a combo of frees (i.e. McGeady) and continental loans.

Yeah, his deal runs out this summer. Will have a lot of interest in him, ive seen that the likes of Juve, the sh!te and Man Utd like him. IF were still interested, I think we'd be better off trying to strike a permanent deal this month.
I know Barry as been brilliant but he's on very good wages and wont take a significant drop in the summer for us, and is 32 turning 33 next season, Fernando is much younger and would definitely be cheaper when it comes to wages, so maybe we could try and either sign him now or atleast try and get him on a pre-contract agreement and sign him in summer to replace Barry?!
