I think we have a vacancy for someone who can play DM and CM. We have very little depth behind Barry and McCarthy, and they have both shown a propensity for collecting yellow cards. We also have to consider the possibility that Barry might NOT sign permanently.

Haven't seen Fernando play myself (he's at Porto), but Martinez was interested back in the summer so who knows.

Like someone mentioned before...perhaps Martinez wants to spend most of the reported 10 mil in the summer? In interviews he has said he wants "short term" replacements for gibbo and kone. You wouldn't spend 10 mil on short term replacements. He might do some smaller deals but I'd guess he doesn't want to spend 10 mil now
