Silly Season January 2014

Welbeck isn't a natural poacher but has so much more to his game than Hernandez.

It's why he's picked for England ahead of others (Rooney and Sturridge excluded)

Hes only ever reached double figures in one season.

And i wouldnt have hernandez either is all round game is ****e, we need somone up front whos not just a poacher thats why jelavic hasnt been givin a good go

Getting off the subject a little, but I find it a little increduclous that there are posters who will defending Naismith and slate Welbeck, who is anything but gash.

Welbeck is is an excellent player. He's one of the best natural finishers in the league, for me. A lot of goals he gets are typical "get on the end of something" that requires speed of thought above anything else.

And his strike rate doesn't really tell the whole story, because most of those appearances would have been as sub.

To be honest mate, there aren't many proven strikers on the market these days.

Not many are even consistent, and the ones that are, are rated 20m+

So the only option is to try and unveil a gem.

LOok at Benteke and Michu, they haven't even really done much this season.

Both have being injured . Michu was banging them in earlier in the season but hasn't played for ages

Let's be real people we won't be buying the 20m plus strikers so i think if we can't get a striker who can get 15 or 20 goals a season we should be looking at 2 players who can share the goals between them . It would be much easier to get two 10 goal players than one big striker. That's why I think when lukaku goes back we should try and get michy the Belgian lad and trust bobby to get in a neat striker now so next season we will have two good but not great strikers about rather than one amazing striker like we have now. Let's not forget now that mcgeadys here mirallas can play behind or as the main man if he can chip in with a few goals then we will be fine

Agreed. He's very decent.

End of the day if we end up signing

Ince
that Oriol Riera
And a cm.

And getting rid of
Jelavic
Heitinga
maybe Gueye or some one of that ilk

it'd be a very good window for me.
It would and RM would have been right in what he said about being stronger after the window shuts.

We have to wait and see, I don't watch much Spanish football so know nothing about the Osasuna lad so if we sign him I will wait and see for myself.

Been pondering this, and I think a lot of it is simply because the game has now evolved to the point where most teams play just 1 striker, so the number of natural strikers playing week in week out is almost halved.
