Silly Season January 2014

I'd be happy with Nugent if he scored 18+ goals in a season because Martinez system allowed him to do that. We MAY have to spend a large chunk of money on a striker, but no one should be allowing themselves to think that this is the only way to get a good one. Transfer fee is not always a good guide to future success. It all depends on who Martinez thinks would fit in best, and score most goals.I hope that if he does spend just a few million on an unknown(to us), people will not prejudge. But of course many people will.
I think that's only natural though isn't it? Every supporter up and down the land will have an opinion on a new signing judged on what they've already produced.

I bet the posters who are questioning Riera have actually never seen him play. Also willing to be that they are the types who will only ever be satisfied when the club is linked to a big name that they actually know, for lots and lots of money.

Some people never learn.

You have no right to question anything Martinez does up until this point. And bringing who he bought at Wigan into the argument is not even valid either, as Everton and Wigan have different pulling powers, wages structures and are chalk and cheese, despite him still managing to do something with them that Everton have not done for 19 years and actually win something.

Chill your boots, as one poster said, "Bob's got it covered".

"Don't be ridiculous. There isn't a single fan on here, or anywhere come to that who isn't over the moon with Martinez for what he's done at the club so far so quit the agenda nonsense."

Listen am a long time poster on this forum, and you can take it from me there's plenty on here who doubt Martinez's credibility to manage Everton. Every signing he's made has been scrutinised from a negative point of view by those posters (the usual suspects). No manager will ever get all his signings 100% correct, Roberto is no different in that respect.

End of the day if we spend around 2-3m on this Lad, and he comes good then it's a good deal all round. He seems like a big lad who is good in the air.

Martinez will know better about him than anyone on here will, so on that i'd trust him more, if he decides to bring him in.

27 isn't even that old, we'd still have four years out of him at least.

If he signs give him a chance before writing him off.

Maybe O'Keefe is just throwing everyone off the real trail.

Either way, Martinez has done great in the market so far, I think McGeady will be a great threatening option, alot better than what we have been able to bring off the bench in recent weeks.

Moyes didn't get the Striker signings right in 12 years here, so lets trust Martinez as he already done great in getting Lukaku in on loan. He is very clued up and seemed to know the exact positions we had all been shouting out for some improvement.

End of the day if we end up signing

Ince
that Oriol Riera
And a cm.

And getting rid of
Jelavic
Heitinga
maybe Gueye or some one of that ilk

it'd be a very good window for me.

Think moyes got it right with yakubu. But he had to break our transfer record to do it. I'll be disappointed if we don't go for someone who is proven, which will cost at least 10m! We should be able to afford it after the players we've sold.

To be honest mate, there aren't many proven strikers on the market these days.

Not many are even consistent, and the ones that are, are rated 20m+

So the only option is to try and unveil a gem.

LOok at Benteke and Michu, they haven't even really done much this season.

He can't be happy being the 4th choice Utd striker.
Personally though if we're going to attempt an audacious raid on Utd I'd rather go for Welbeck who I rate more highly as a goalpoacher. Couldn't see Moyes letting him go, though.

Wellbeck a goal poacher ? Have you seen his strike rate ? Have a look at it........
