Silly Season January 2014

Don't know if it's a question of being forward thinking. More of a question of why would Chelsea get rid?

They've just announced a loss of nearly £50m, they're about to re-sign Matic for £20m & it's patently obvious that they need a new striker this window. Maybe they might need to cash in on a couple to stay within the FFP guidelines?

They're selling DeBruyne so the additional spend on Matic won't be much.

We've yet to see if the FFP regulations will change anything at all. I doubt clubs will start selling off assets they might not need to be cause of it just yet

I wasn't telling you anything of the sort, your posts spoke for themselves, all I did was state fact. You did intimate wrong doing here:

You then said where you thought it was going;

You're clearly saying there that the 'other costs' column (in the audited accounts) doesn't reflect reality.

When challenged you then attempted to back peddle by mentioning the paying down of debt, but the debt level & amounts due within 1 to 5 years is clearly shown in the accounts. So no luck there........

Now you're simply trying to deflect with nonsense. I stand by exactly what I said, shame you haven't got the nads to do the same.....

I think you need to start reading what's actually there rather than what you wish to be there.

I've been very precise in my language about what the issue is at Everton: we're mismanaged and mismanagement begets creativity in presentation of finances. Welcome to the real world. That's the one I live in. It's the one where our 'custodians' are always servicing a massive debt that never seems to diminish, it's the one where they are taking out loans on the basis of tv revenues in advance to funnel forward money to the present to operate the club, and one where Other Operating Costs has grown as a costing on the balance sheet from a paltry 2/3M a decade ago to tens of millions...all at a time when football clubs have seen revenues multiply to unbelievable amounts.

There's no backpeddling or deflection, so dont attempt to browbeat me with your poorly constructed nonsense.

Chelsea cant spend a penny on transfers until they sell someone. If they want a striker they have to sell another other than De Bryne

If I was Lukaku I'd be wanting the ambition of this club explained to me in terms of what team mates I'd likely be getting in and around me. He cuts a frustrated figure at the moment. He does not get the type of service he should be getting. If I was him with no connections to the club and easily good enough to get CL football elsewhere, I wouldn't wish to be bought by Everton.

Dave for the most part i agree with your view on funding etc, but IF we did go out their and make Lukaku perm, that in itself would be showing the direction we are heading and that were willing to at least back the manager

Fair plays though it is a massive IF like

haha, all I did was re-iterate exactly what you said Dave so don't try & make out anything other.

If you've now clarified your view, then that's fair enough & we'll leave it there.

If you're Lukaku, who's been passed from pillar to post by Chelsea when he's obviously good enough to do a job at the very top level in the game, you'd be very impatient for CL football. Everton, unfortunately, will fall short of that ambition. That's why I say that if he was at a club that could realistically say: 'look, we have this investment, this facility and commercial department that will see us able to back the manager over the next few years, so will you stay?', then maybe if you were him you'd say yes.

We're miles off that. The lad must look at what's going on here (and certainly his agent will know) and say: 'Sign? Nah...you're having a laugh'.
