Silly Season January 2014

I don't think central defence is a worry at present. They had a bad night, they have been spot on all season so far.

We need Seamus back at RB ASAP and let Stones and Alcaraz provide the back up for the first choice 2, unless we are buying someone like Martins Indi in of course for long term.

We need a striker and another midfielder who can come in and hit the ground running.

2 more players, from all of the profit we have made from the last 2 windows, not a lot to ask!

Or, are we keeping the powder dry for summer still! zzzzzzzzzz

I do think we need a CM and in a perfect world another Striker, but a CM will do. Players are coming back from injuries so we are well cover for most positions when healthy (Gibson, Kone and Oviedo aside. Still no details on Lukaku).

We most have some money but I think Roberto is gambling on having a chance of signing Lukaku on a permanent in the summer, so he is saving as much as he can. For me the question is, do we go and spend 15M or 20M on a top Striker now or do we wait for Lukaku in the summer?

We don't really need speed at the back, the reason they scored against us on the counter was because of the ridiculously high line we held after the first goal.

yep, and the fact that neither of them was properly fit. We will probably need a CB in the next year but now we desperaetly need a striker, with CM next in the pecking order. I was suprisingly calm last night but am fuming today at the thought of Bobby looking down the back of the sofa to cover a loan fee while all the teams around us are looking at big money deals.

Tend to agree, although last night we were punished in a way we've been a little fortunate to have so often gotten away this season. I think Distin's pace, as well as some profligate opposition and Howard's decent form, has saved us a few times. If we're going to continue playing full backs as wing backs and only two CBs we'll probably need one who's pretty rapid, especially if players like Pienaar keep playing the 'let's keep the ball till I fall over' game.

I have noticed it creeping more and more into answers on here 'saving to buy lukaku in the summer'.

So what happens on 1st Sep when lukaku is playing for chelsea, or dormund?

Will we still be saving our money?

Someone just said Stefan Jovetic on loan. Can we bring in any more loan players?

I also said can Deulofeu play as a CF for the rest of the season. Looks like he could do a job there from what I've seen of his pace and sprint speed. Only thing is, he's scuffed a few one on ones but still, worth a go?
