Well, he'll lose a lot of fans if he sticks with the "squad is good enough" BS he's been reeling off in recent weeks.

A Champions League chasing team going into the final 15 games with just one striker to their name, who has never played with nor even met any of his team mates before in his life and speaks very little Engiish, and isn't really that arsed about us as he's off to the south of France to play with Falcao and co anyway.

Everyone on these forums, Twitter, the media can identify what players we need where, I'm sure Martinez does as well. We just need to find 4 more Mirallas' at £5m each at the different positions and we'll be sorted. A £20m outlay right now to give the possibility of untold riches next season is worth the gamble especially with Martinez in charge now.

The Everton board will never, ever gamble anywhere near that amount.

They may be generous to provide him with funds for a 2m soon-to-be-out-of-contract yard dog striker, mind.

Call me crazy but if we are going to be ok with players when they are fit go and loan Robbie keane for a few weeks if need be, the whole Irish connection. I know he played for them lot but he was crap for them so it doesn't count. Cheap, covers the time it takes for lukaku to recover and is back up for Traore once he starts playing. Simple.

There is a silver lining to lukaku being injured for a long time.....send him back to chelsea to recover and it frees up a loan spot! Tom ince here we come

A team with top 4 ambitions talking about loaning Robbie Keane. This is where we are.

Just no. Last year we fell away because we didn't have the quality in depth, for some reason we've got exactly the same opportunity, if not better this season, to get 4th place.

In a way we've been a bit lucky with Spurs not clicking and United being like us. It will not be the same again next season, City are a powerhouse, Chelsea have Mourinho back and just need a striker, Arsenal are well Arsenal, Liverpool with SAS are scoring for fun, United just spent £37m on Mata, will probably get Kroos and someone else in, and who knows in the summer and eventually Spurs will iron out their issues and come good.

We will not be able to compete with the above over the summer, unless we get into the CL group stages which means more money in so we can improve the squad depth to cope with extra European games while getting 4th again.

I said the same last season getting into the CL group stages would be massive for the football club, I wouldn't be arsed if we just tanked it first time round as long as the money was spent on getting a consecutive 4th place finish.

Like everyone I'd love/hope we can add some quality before the window shuts IF there available, if not I don't want any old rubbish coming in with the belief were nailed on 4th

We need Europe next season. We need it to prove to players here and yet to be attracted that we are headed in the right direction. We need, in other words a minimum 6th place finish.

That just got extremely difficult with last night's result and injury to Lukaku.

If we don't buy anyone in the next few days it shows we have no money. Last night was bad but it had been apparent for weeks that we were looking sloppy and jaded.

Not knee-jerking but looking at united now with their players back plus Mata, I can't see anything apart from 7th. We need to push on, same as last Jan, but we don't/can't do it.

the problem now is - which area is what is more pressing? heitinga is leaving and oviedo is injured so we are short in defence, we still need a creative midfielder and now lukaku is out! tricky one...

keane isnt an answer, he is a temporary stop gap. someone who will only be here a few weeks and it gives us an extra player on the bench who used to score goals.
