Hang on a mo, all you agreeing with Chico, I am sorry, you can put as much of a spin on it as you want, but the fact is, Traore isn't even fit to play.

Stop being ridiculous! The last thing we needed was an unfit / injured player

thinking about it , we have signed 2 very good players yes ?

but the traore deal is soured by him being injured and then lukaku being injured leaving us striker-lite. if lukaku didnt get injured we wouldnt be panicking much .we just have to get results till there back.

then mcgeady ... great player but not a position i think any of us would have said a concern at the time- wide men =mirallas pienaar deulofeu oviedo

perhaps , just perhaps martinez sees mcgeady/deulofeu as a replacement for mirallas rm, mirallas as a replacement for barkley cam and barkley as the spare cm. which is the position i think we looked light in (injuries aside)

who knows we may even go 442 in some games !

Would people have been happy had we spent a decent sum of money on covering short term injuries though? How many players of decent quality are going to because available for that without breaking the bank in January?

We're not saying we should have spunked £20m up the wall on a panic buy - we're saying that we should have brought in at least one reinforcement to cover the glaringly obvious holes in midfield and attack; especially considering we're 4 points off 4th as it stands.

If the season was a write off and we had nothing realistically to play for, I'd understand completely waiting til the summer - but we're in with a great shout at the FA Cup and we're challenging for Europe! We've let go two high earners and brought in £7.5m this window alone - surely that could have been reinvested and give us a boost, especially after that bloody derby.

cmoon fellas, johnny is off, geads and ivory giant are in. we win tomorrow 3-1 and everything looks alot brighter.

summer target....Messi and Muller NEA

But because Jim White didn't say "and now over to Finch Farm" some people think 'oh wow what a crap window'.

We might be a little short on numbers at the moment, but get a grip blues.

We've had a negative spend for ten windows in a row at this point. 10!

How low are our expectations that a good window is selling two players for 7 million and bringing in a loan and a half fit winger for a couple of hundred thousand?

As opposed to an actual proven player.

We have an absolutely critical month coming up which includes three winnable league games and a crucial FA Cup game - and we're going into all of those games without a striker, and a midfield one injury away from Leon "The Ghost" Osman starting in a holding role! How can people be happy about this?

We have mirallas he can do the job as a striker just fine,to be honest he looks hungrier than Lukaku has for the last month or so.

Not sure that there's any need to tell people to 'get a grip' because they're unhappy with todays events Groucho. You're better than that.

I'm better than what?

We've signed two first team players? However people seem to want us to sign Messi. I think a lot of folk need to get real.

Give a damn

if it makes anyone feel better liverpool screwed up their transfer.

whats funny is all their fans saying FSG out, hilarious given they have the second highest net spend in the league since FSG took over.

Maybe if their managers didn't waste FSGs money on jarg players like carrol, aspas, allen and downing they would stump out a bit more !

As has been said. Couldn't give a fook about them. It cheers me nor depresses me in equal measures. I'm just arsed about EFC

Because Martinez said he doesn't like buying players in January, or something.

Even though he was at Finch Farm till half 10 presumably scrambling around trying to get a half decent loan deal in to paper over the cracks.

*shrug*

It was prudence, of course we were looking for players and one might have materialised. Or a few might have, like Barry, McCarthy and Lukaku last time out.

The lack of action would indicate that the players we wanted just weren't there or at a price we consider value for money.

Its all well and good spending ten million on a sexy Spaniard or South American with stepovers but it will serve to appease the fans and not be the right strategy for improving.

Martinez has money to spend - not enough of it in my book like - and will do so in the summer when he is likely to get the players he wants.

Yes it ace that were in with a good chance this season or breaking in that top four but Martinez needs to be looking medium and long term too. If we overshot our hand and bought out of desperation this window it probably wouldn't have worked out and then we'd be shot for spending in the summer too.

I would have loved boss players to look forward to, who wouldn't? But its not always like that. No matter how Sky tries to serve that up to us all.

Hardly any of our competitors strengthened in this window. Were four points off fourth.

Leighton Baines is sex itself and will be doing all manner of naughty things in a blue shirt for many years yet.

Relax, we will be sound.

He got cover for that, then Lukaku got injured. You can't plan for things like that
