Imagine if we get more injuries

Yes but imagine if any teams lost 2/3 of there best players, they can't just buy in case that happens,We lost Barkley,Deulofeu when they were really going well,Oviedo is a disappointing loss we have got quite luck with Lukaku it could have been worse.Anyway I hope mirallas is up front tomorrow as he's on fire ATM.

I'm guessing what our budget was. its a number between -1 and 1.

the lack of intent from the club is a constant kick in the teeth.

How many players will we need to buy in the summer?? Replace the loans, Pienaar maybe?? Distan will need replacing eventually. I'm not even going to bother thinking about it, we all got excited last September that we would have some money in this window to spend.

I sort of meant generally - people seem to forget that we've signed two actual players in this window, and because it was deadline day today, with no action, some are very quick to declare it a failure. Perhaps not in this thread, but you know what I mean.

We have lost Lukaku long term, Deulofeu's injury is one of those that you can't predict a recovery for, it could flare up again 5 minutes into his return, loads of players coming back but will need time to get back up and running, Jelavic gone, Heitinga gone.

And the replacements consist of an out of shape winger who will need a month to regain match fitness and a crocked striker who we're hoping beyond hope will be available before March - yet he's never kicked a ball in this league.

On paper, it's a spectacularly bad window. We needed depth urgently and we simply haven't got it. It's not a deadline day kneejerk - it's a case of speaking about it now because the window has closed, but these concerns have been expressed long before tonight. We all just assumed, perhaps naively, that we'd at least bring in a loan to cover blatant gaps as we try and challenge for something for a change when we actually have a chance to do so.

I'm honestly shocked that we got good dough for Jelavic, got rid of heitingas wages, and still didn't do anything above a free transfer.

I don't understand how people aren't fuming.

Because they have been brainwashed by the likes of Alan Myers, Greg O'keefe and co. We had 2 long term injuries quite early into season which needed addressing, then we have lost another two in Jelavic and Heitinga. Replaced by McGeady and a injured striker. Alcarez can looks like he can only play 2 games max before missing a few, Distin is out injured. Martinez knew Heitinga was going for quite a while, plenty of time to earmark a replacement in my opinion. If money is spent in the summer, with a key sale, will you lot still be happy then ?

Thing is mate most of the teams around us have more depth than we do.

Arsenal lose Ramsey and Flamini, they've still got enough midfielders to have a backup on the bench.

We lose McCarthy and Barry and we're 100% goosed.

Liverpool lose Suarez and they've still got Sturridge.

We lose Traore (when he's fit) and we're 100% goosed.

GOOSED.

We're 6th, mate. And haven't won a trophy in nearly 20 years.

My expectations haven't been raised by constant success here.

Fair enough, I guess having won one thing in my lifetime has set my hopes pretty low. All I know is I'm enjoying watching this club more now than even when we made champions league. Regardless of what happens this season I'm going to live in blind hope that something class is coming soon.

Well until Jelavic pops up on the final day and knocks us out of the European places. But we'll get to that when we get to it.
