I've finally finished all of my bottles off. All bottles are gone.. Desperately in need of restocking.

I had a dig around in the drinks cupboard and found a bottle of Bells at the back that I was given years a go. I thought I may as well finally open it.

Should have left it closed to be honest.

I think I've read good reviews of the American Rye cask, but they seem suspiciously cheap.

Journey is OK. But its regularly reduced to £22. Id never pay any more for it.

Think I've had Journey and liked it more than I expected to, in a "can't really knock that for £22" sort of way. There seem to have been a few fairly cheap Jura expressions over the years, I forget which one is which.

Not had single version of Jura, kinda' for the same reason you mentioned (suspiciously cheap...like, too cheap; especially that 14YO). I say look slightly North to the Isle of Mull with Tobermory's 'Ledaig' 10YO. I just don't remember your preference on the Scotch front (ie peated or non); Ledaig's peated but it's got it's own thing going on and it's not horrific in cost....'bout $65 here, I think. Ian MacMillan got them sorted out years ago...they didn't have a great rep before he changed how they do stuff but now he's primarily a consultant, so try why his handiwork's still popping on shelves. If you do, smack me with your thoughts.

I bought myself an emergency 1 litre bottle of Johnny Red for £18 at Tesco.. it's good enough to glug..

Ok thanks, I have definitely seen Four Roses available, will give it a go. Any thoughts on Woodford Reserve? It gets good reviews.

Not one I've knowingly had, no idea why.

Elijah Craig Barrell Proof would be another to try.

Four Roses Small Batch Select is a good start

@Shevin Keedy word of warning about this particular bottling...it only came about in 2019 and, unbeknownst to me, is only available in about 30 of our US states, so no idea if it's even available across the pond. Four Roses in general is good value for money, though.

I have definitely seen Four Roses; will need to check if it is small batch.

WR is a very good supermarket option, as is Makers Mark and for about 25 quid a bottle Buffalo Trace is hard to beat. In the 50 quid bracket I'd go Michters Sour Mash or American Unblended all day long.

Kilchoman age their single malt in used barrels from Buffalo Trace, or they did at one point...Angel's Envy is another to try but it's not bourbon, by the strict letter of the law.
