Sir Landon Of Donovan

They do. That's true.

Too many on here though making the assumption (while not watching him play) that the same has happened to Landon.

I can assure them that it hasn't.

I agree and Cahill was a very different type of player. He was completely fearless, a very physical player. Plus the time he spent flying half way round the world to play for Australia didn't help. He also suffered a lot of injuries in the last few years which took its toll. Donovan is a different type of player, hasn't suffered a lot of injuries and I got the impression from his last spell that he wasn't just relying on his pace anymore. He's a clever player, to me he almost always makes the right decision about which pass to play.

Fair enough. I would argue that you can't assure us that he won't lose it over the next couple of years but of course we can't assume that he will either.

Everything which I've written within this thread is based on facts.

I would love to see Landon Donovan at the club, strength in depth and all of that.

But I know as a lifelong Evertonian that finances are a real smacker for us, judging on the past 8 months of football we really don't need another attacking player - especially with Mirallas and Naismith coming in.

I would like to see a right-back come in, as well as additional cover for Gibson and Baines.

Niang would be dirt cheap, especially in wages so I don't see a problem with investing in the future.

Let's see what happens.

They didn't even have a shot on goal with Gibson on the pitch. And then with him off, they managed to hit the post, score and force howard to make several saves despite having ten men.

Team looked like poo without Gibson.

Still think we need another CM behind Gibson.

Cover for Gibson and Baines (and possibly Jelavic) strikes me as the priority now. Unless Junior, Bidwell and Vellios really are ready to step up.

Mind, a player of Donovan's quality will never be unwelcome but I like the look of our wings as they are and that's the first time in years upon years I could say that.

Gibson goes down, then one of the CBs goes down, panic...the squad is just too thin.

I wouldn't say Donovan is a luxury, I think there is still need for quality cover there. But yes, agree, other needs.

Exactly, we lose Gibson and we'd either have to nobble Fellaini by forcing him to sit or play Neville there by himself. Either way will hurt us. Our lack of cover there does worry me.

Donovan plays as a ST for Galaxy and the USA so, if he was to come, he would be able to cover as a ST if Jelavic gets injured or on either wing.

We'll be losing Pienaar to the ACON at exactly the time that Donovan might be available. Plus, finances aside, you can never have too many good players.

It seems like Moyes is looking to use Osman in front of the back four more. I'm sure it's just to fit him in to the side and not for his tackling ability. If Jags and Distin continue to keep our player of the year out of the side then Moyes might make more use of Heitinga in midfield. I'm not keen myself though.

I'd like to see back up for Jelavic come in on loan and maybe even a creative player to go in the hole so that we can drop Fella deeper. Baines is so rarely injured but it gives Moyes a good excuse to play Neville and Hibbert at the same time when he is absent.

I feel much better about striker after seeing Mirallas play there. Very small sample size, but he showed very good instincts there imo.
